Just a reminder that this is a great reunion, who's who in the club event. Also I understand the program leads will be recognized this year.
See you there!

The CCT run will take place again this Saturday. The
last time we met many runners were present. People quickly
clustered and groups ran anywhere from 4-10+ miles.
Next Saturday, Dec 13th, CCT will be hosting the Jolly
Fat Man’s Run (annual fundraiser for Toys for Tots campaign) so we will
not be meeting.
Sunday Dec 14th MCRRC’s Jingle Bell Jog.
Information is on the club’s website.
I know volunteers are needed so if you have a friend or
family member who would like to support you and/or the club, do encourage. Also
if you are running, there are plenty of ways to volunteer.
Hope to see some of you there. We had a great time last year!!

Hi everyone,
Just a reminder for concerts coming up soon.
On Sunday November 23, the Rockville Concert Band performs
at 3:00 in the Fitzgerald Theatre at the RockvilleCivicCenter. Our theme
for this concert is “Americana”
with several selections of great American music (Gershwin, Copeland, Big Band
swing, etc.). It promises to be a very enjoyable afternoon. Our
holiday concert will be on Sunday December 21, 2008, 3:00 p.m. at the same
location.
Flutes on the Brink will be performing at the Columbia Flute
Choir Festival on Saturday November 22. The festival begins at 10:00 a.m
with several flute choirs performing. The festival is sponsored by the
Columbia Institute of Fine Arts and takes place at ColumbiaBaptistChurch
in Falls Church.
The church is located at 103 West
Columbia Street, Falls Church.
Flutes on the Brink is scheduled to play second, so you flutists out there who
want to hear some good flute music, don’t be late!
Flutes on the Brink will also be returning to BrooksideGardens this holiday season for their
Festival of Lights from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on Saturday December 6. Enjoy the
light show outside and then come in the visitor center to warm up with some hot
chocolate and lively holiday music.
Craig Roodenburg, MCRRC Board member and past-president, asked me to send the following. Please help out if at all possible. I will send an email in the morning if the CCT is to be postponed until Sunday due to rain.
Thanks,

Wanda, the XC-race at the Agricultural Park could use volunteers tommorrow morning at 7:00 AM. It's the club's dress rehearsal for the USATF National Championship in February. If you could put the word out that there's something to do rain or shine, it wold be appreciated.
Each year, MCRRC’s structured training season ends with the
Rockville 5/10K
race. Many runners have asked for an informal option to keep them going
until Speed Development begins in January. Beginning Saturday, November 15, 2008,
at 8:00 AM, the Saturday Fall Capital Crescent Trail runs will
begin. A MCRRC member will meet runners in the parking lot each
Saturday at the corner of Bethesda
and Woodmont Avenues to cluster runners of similar paces. Each group will
determine its distance.
This is an excellent opportunity for similar-paced runners from different
programs and the club at large to meet.
There are no fees, registration, coaching, or RSVP's. The CCT
Fall Runs will continue until Speed Development begins in January 2009.
These runs will be cancelled when conflicting with MCRRC races, inclement
weather, CCT is being used for a race, or downtown Bethesda is hosting a special event.
Walkers are encouraged to participate as well. Vicky Nathan, 5K Walking
head coach will be attending most Saturdays.
Let’s all stay fine-tuned during the holiday season!
A weekly Sat Run message will be posted via our Info yahoo group.
If you did not pick up your medal Sunday,
one will be waiting for you at the celebration. Also please bring $1 for tip.
Congrats All!

Hi, Wanda,
Could I ask for your help in forwarding my plea for volunteers to your
running groups? I would greatly appreciate the opportunity to reach a few
more people.
Thank you,
Kimberly
Hi Fellow Runners,
Congratulations to many of you who have just completed a Fall
half-marathon or who have been training for the Rockville 5K/10K.
Since some of you should be recovering while others of you could be
tapering, I could really use some help with the upcoming DARCARS Young Run on
this Sunday, October 19th. I am sure you are balking at the fact this is
a Young Run. But honestly, this is a really big race with 3,000
children. Plus most of them have their parents in tow since it is for
children age 12 and under.
We have had a record number of registrations, we are at 2,949 and who
knows how many registrations are waiting in the Club mail box. So I
desperately need some more volunteers on race morning to help accommodate all
the kids.
Children can choose to run the 1-mile, the 1/2–mile or the
¼-mile. Yes, we even have finishers that are age 2 or under. Quite
adorable to watch. When did you run your first race? Come help make this
a memorable day for many children who will hopefully enjoy many more fun years
of running.
To join our finely orchestrated chaos, send me a message or sign up
online at www.darcarsyoungrun.com
Finish Line, Refreshments and Parking volunteers desperately needed.
Susan Debad, Montgomery County Road Runners Club’s Office
Manager and Rockville 5/10K Volunteer Coordinator asked me to facilitate
getting the word out that this race, like all races doesn’t happen
without volunteers. Please help out if at all possible. Also if you
are participating in the race, solicit friends and family members to give their
support as well. That way they can cheer you on and help with the race!
Happy Running and Walking All!

Please
volunteer at the Rockville
10K/5K – we need lots of help!!
This
year's race will be held on Sunday, November 2. Volunteers are still
needed for all positions, but we are in special need of course
marshals. If you are planning to run the race, you can still help
out at Packet Stuffing (Thursday Oct. 30) or Packet Pickup (Saturday Nov. 1 or
pre-race on Nov. 2). If you're available to volunteer, please go to: http://www.mcrrc.org/races/Rockville10k5k/
And
click on "volunteer" in the green box. If you have a job
preference, please indicate it in the comments section.
Feel
free to email me directly at office@... with any questions or
comments, and thanks in advance for helping us put together a great race!
Hi Guys,
There is a conflict for our use of the track at RHS tonight. So we
will be meeting at our usual time, 7pm, at the track at Montgomery
College.
Practice will be canceled if it is raining.
Thanks,
Lisa
Your response to help Pat at the first waterstop for the
Parks HM race is much appreciated and all positions are filled! However there
are still other tasks that still need support.
If you are able to help out, please access the following website
and scroll to the far right of the page. There you will find the volunteer
heading at the top of the page and drop-down listings of other positions to be
filled.
Just a reminder, the reason that your program is completely free of
charge is becauseof the dedication of volunteers who lead programs,
put on races, and domany other jobs for the club. You will be able to
have a successful Rockville 5K/10Kbecause of the work of volunteers.
One thing the club hopes and expects is that you return the favor by
volunteering forat least one race.
I am asking you to join me on Sunday, September 14, at the Run Aware
water stop, located on Viers Mill Rd. past Twinbrook Pkwy.
If any of you who are running have friends and family who would like
to volunteer, please have them sign up as well.
Why do you want to do this?
1. because you will get to see your fellow club members
2. because it will be a total blast
3. because you get a cool shirt and the great post-race party
4. because volunteers come out to support you in your races!
Water stop volunteers start early that day (your shift will begin @
6:15 AM, but there will be coffee and healthy doughnuts
first at check-in) but you finish early--you're done well before
9:30, and will have plenty of time to get to downtown Bethesda
for all the fun at the finish line.
Here;s how you sign up:
1. Go to the Parks Half site at http://www.parkshalfmarathon.com/
2. Click on the volunteer tab and the top of the page. A new
registration window will open.
3. Fill out the form, picking RACE DAY and SECTION 1 WATER STOP.
4. In the SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS box, write that you want to work at
the first water stop (the second
water stop in section 1 is already completely staffed).
You will get a volunteer confirmation, and will hear from Jim Farkas,
the Section 1 lead, the week of the race--and you will also hear from
me. We will be busy at our waterstop, and we want to rock the runners
with some great tunes as they head into the park!
NOTE: If you cannot volunteer for the water stop, there are LOTS of
other volunteer jobs available before and after the race.
Contact me directly if you have any additional questions.
Thanks for participating!
