Brett,
The MC200 Comm Team (150 hammies along the entire route) will have
information and directions available for the teams at each transfer
area (TA) regarding the closest location for:
- best fuel prices,
- 24 hour convenience stores,
- batteries and misc supplies
- and limited first aid supplies (no elective surgeries please, but we
do have firefighter/paramedics and physicians at several TA's).
In some locations we are encouraging some of the TA's to have food,
beverages and runners supplies available at a nominal cost to you, so
please send us the items you would like to see stocked along the
route. (and where).
We are also initiating a new capability for the teams to send out text
messages or limited (one way) email to friends and family members back
home. (Even considering a continuous "twitter" session for the entire
event. . .?) This will be available at most TA's but at all VTA's
where we have full digital radio capabilities. All that is needed from
you is the text messaging or email address of the recipient, and a
short 140 character message.
The MC200 Comm Team is again looking forward to having nearly 150
enthusiastic(at least to start with), volunteer radio operators along
the entire route, to help in any way we can insure a safe and fun
relay for you.
Regards,
Jerry Martin - KC9BDA
