Unless you can find a hotel near a Van Transition Area, it may only
be useful to half the team. The other van would have to travel too
far to get quality rest.
Our team did last years version without a hotel room and had no
problems.
This year, I believe, the organizers have arranged for showers in
the "first half" of the course. Last year the only one was at the
YMCA in Waukegan, IL. Still worked out fine.
Sleeping accommodations were fine at the VTA in the church in Racine
(TA 24?). Some members will sleep on the floor anyway even if you do
get a hotel room.
Everyone in our group brought their own food and shared.
Two vans, registration and some other miscellaneous costs (e.g.
gas), our per person came out between $100-$150.
Well worth the cost!
