I second what Brian said and then add one or two comments of my own...
For my team (Road Warriors), we rent two full size vans and depart St. Louis at 1200 on Thursday and do not arrive back in St. Louis until 1200 on Sunday (72 hours in a van - minus a short amount of sleep is a LONG time in a vehicle). As for the price, I would recommend you shop around as I was able to find a deal similar to what Brian mentioned.
If you flow it out, the cost of a full size van vice a mini-van is so minimal for the extra room (comfort) you gain. In fact, when I did a post race e-mail requesting feedback, the (only) response I got was get the largest van they have (assume that is a 15 passenger vice the 12). Again...comfort!
For what it is worth and it worked out great; I collected $100 per person ($$ covered rental/gas/tolls) PRIOR to departing St. Louis. That way, when we pulled in for gas, I did not need to ask anyone for cash nor did I need to wake up the lucky ones that were able to get some sleep.
Finally, a GPS is a must and helped us out countless times. The maps you print-out prior are okay, but the GPS allowed us to find the checkpoint easier as well as a place to eat or a Wal-Mart. Again, a must!
Now my question to you, why not 2009 vice 2010? Slacker...
See ya on the course!

Ahh...one more thing...do not forget to decorate your van(s). Some people have so much talent and it makes it easier to spot fellow teams.
