Re: [MC200Relay] Van rental

Yeah, they're pretty expensive, right? Try renting 2 vans if you have a 12-person team. We have 2 x 12-person caravans this year for the first time after using 2 volunteered mini-vans for our 10-person team last year, which was a little crowded, but manageable.

I can think of a few options:
1. Use sponsorship dollars for van rentals (assuming you can find sponsorships)
2. Check with local businesses who use such types of vans you require and ask if they can be used for race (promoting their business since they might have their corporate logo on van) -- Might be a liability issue though for companies to loan them out.
3. If you go mini-van route and you find that noone wants to volunteer the vans out, then you may want to consider renting them from your team members at a discounted rate than what you'd find at a normal car rental.

I'm looking at getting a (first time) group together for 2010, and made some calls about renting a large van. This gets pricey. Vans go for $130/day, plus $10-13/day for each additional driver. For 3 days the cost could easily top $600. How do you folks deal with this? Do you just put with the expense, or are some other options I am overlooking. Any help would be appreciated. (Also, for first timers, a how-to-do-it manual would sure be helpful). Thanks.
