Nicole,
Initially our team was training for a 10 - 12 person team. When it was time to start the race, we only had 6 runners, so we needed up running an ultra. Although untentional, I believe our training ended up being good enough to run an ultra. We pretty much would run 4 times per week (interval training). Some runners ran acended miles throughout the week. For example, some of us ran 1 - 3miles monday, 4miles tues, 4-5 miles thursday, 6-10 miles on saturday or sunday. Others mixed it up. But about two months out was started to run less days and worked on running twice a day (once in the morning and again at night). I would say three weeks before the race we would tone it down a bit and run 3 - 4 times a week again. During race week we ran once and tried to rest up for the race. Hope this helps.
