You have to access it from the website, not email. You also have to be signed into the group to access it. On the left is a list of menu items.....Home Messages Files Photos Links Database, etc. Click the word "Database".

Here it is if that doesn't work.

No, it is reverse from what '82 uses. You will ned a 1980 or later brake stay.

Hey Randy, that is cool you have had those bikes all these years... In 76 I
bought a 250 KTM MC5 I still have that bike and it still runs like a bat out of
... that hot place. It still has the stock piston in it. Yes I raced that bike
over a 100 times not to mention the numerous trail rides. I think I will never
get rid of that bike....
Not a Maico I know but I figure it comes from the same part of Europe.

Wow, a stock bike. That is going to be a nice project.... The cost will depend
on the condition of the forks and Engine.(thats were the real money is) the
shocks will need to be replaced. maybe they can be rebuilt and if this ends up a
show bike then yea other wise, a nice set of WP will quite nicely...Good luck!
the one thing I learned about building a Maico is that you must not compromise
on anything... if you do it will break...this is especiall true of the
motor....If the part is questionable-replace it...and that is why Maicos can get
expensive.. but worth it....

Randy,

That's a true 74.5 GP, one of the most desirable and collectible vintage era MX
bikes. Fortunately, most of the parts you would need to restore the bike are
readily available. Like Rick said, be prepared to spend a few thousand dollars
but remember, those GPs will just continue to go up in value over the long run.

Hi Mike,

I have no first hand knowledge of the tubliss system but was riding with a
friend and Chuck Sun this summer. Chuck was running the Tubliss system in his
KTM's tires and was really impressed and feels the tubliss system is a great
investment for a race bike.

Randy,

I looked at your 74.5 250 Maico in the Photo section. It looks like a good
core bike for a restoration. If you sell it I would put it on ebay for the
best price. Sounds like you like it a lot and will probably keep it. A
restoration done right could run you $3000-4000 but you would have a very
nice Maico when you are done. This certainly is a Maico that deserves to be
restored.

Have fun with it and remember that all of us here can help with anything you
encounter.

Not being a vet, much less having combat experience, I can only imagine what it's like and the sacrifices that have been made, so to me it feels a bit hollow, but I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have served and especially to those families who have lost loved ones in service of our country.

Thank you.

as I understand, it is getting hard to find headstay's for the earlier Maico's my buddy Rick at Motocentre has been making replacements.. they look like the head stay off an AW. they look nice and they work better too. more room to wiggle when moving the throttle cable or playing with the carb. Petcocks... I believe that most every European Motocrosser used the same petcocks.. only difference being whether the fuel line connects right out of the bottom or at a right angle, to the body of the petcock... I have a set of aftermarket petcocks that I bought from AMS that have worked well... word of caution, some petcocks work but the hole leading to shut off valve is too small and it will starv the motor. It is not a problem while putting around but on a hard uphill pull it can be trouble... hope this helps
