Looks like I might be picking up an 83 project and was wondering if there are
any known frame cracking problems on the 83 that should be addressed/gusseted
like on the 81's?
Trust me .....the spyder frame is solid as a rock. go ahead with your project...
the spider will never let you down. wouldn't recomend the 250 motor...... since
is a little short on the musle department. in the oder hand you'll have more
than plenty ponies with the 490. GOOD LUCK and enjoy it.--- In MAICOMOTORCYCLES@yahoogroups.com, "mega490" <mega490@...> wrote:

Hey Fritz, We dont gusset 83 Frames either.I put a piggy back Ohlin with
adjustable rebound and compression with a 16 MM shaft opposed to the stock 14 MM
shaft. You have to use the stock 83 Clevis and rebound adjuster from the stock
shock. I just picked up a new shock Friday, and my builder thinks he may have
trouble getting more of the heads for the shocks he is using.
As for power, with very minor work, the 250s run really well. I race 1 that Eric
did some work on it it is very strong.I am thinking of putting a 38 MM type 55
Mag Bing on the bike next.
Let me know if you need any help on it.
