Hey, You should all sign this!!! It only takes a minute. It's a major safety issue and could make the difference between riders coming from an area like ours getting to go to Young Rider (it's kind of like the junior olyimpics) or not. Even of you aren't part of Young Riders yet, please sign the petition! Thanks, -Anna

November 22, 2009
WE THE UNDERSIGNED hereby petition the Fédération Equestre Internationale (“FEI”), the United States Equestrian Federation (“USEF”) and the United States Eventing Association (“USEA”) to remove the current NAJYRC CCI1* maximum age restriction which will allow qualified Young Riders through age 21 to compete in the CCI1* at the North American Junior Young Riders Championship ("NAJYRC") beginning in 2010.
STATEMENT OF SAFETY RELEVANCE: In this environment of increased emphasis on safety we believe that the age restriction sends an inappropriate message that encourages riders at ages 19-21 to rush into competing at the Intermediate and CCI2* level thereby producing riders and/or horses who may not possess the skill, the experience and the confidence needed to compete safely at the CCI2* level.
Our governing body promotes “developing riders” yet the CCI1* age restriction at the NAJYRC promotes developing “unsafe riders” at the CCI2* level. The current age restriction does not in any way promote developing our future upper level event riders at the current safety level that is expected of them by the FEI, the USEF and the USEA. Safety expectations have changed drastically since the CCI1* maximum age restriction was imposed at the NAJYRC; removing the CCI1* maximum age limit is another necessary step towards putting the safety and welfare of our horses and riders above all else.
THE UNDERSIGNED RESPECTFULLY REQUEST that the FEI, the USEF and the USEA come together regarding this matter and help us to encourage safety, experience and confidence in our Young Riders for the betterment of our sport and for the proper safe development of our future International competitors by removing the current NAJYRC CCI1* maximum age restriction which will allow qualified Young Riders through age 21 to compete in the CCI1* at the NAJYRC beginning in 2010.
Erin will take one. Sorry I did not see the announcement until this am.

Hi!
Last call for Kathleen lessons for Saturday morning. So far I haven't heard
from anyone so it doesn't look promising. If I don't get enough takers by
tomorrow morning, I will cancel with Kathleen.
If you would like a lesson Saturday morning, please email me ASAP, otherwise, we
will wait until after the holiday.
Thanks!

Friends,
I'm sure you have all heard of the tragic death of Logan Collins.
Tonya, his mom, is my dear friend from Neptune and Company where we both
work. A memorial fund has been set up for the family at LANB: The
Logan Collins Memorial Fund for those who would like to contribute to
the family. Tonya is a single mother of 4. Logan is her only son.
Please pray for them. Logan has 3 sisters: Jessica (HS Senior), Sophia
(HS Sophomore) and Taylor (5th Grader at Chamisa). You may know them.
Thanks and hug your kids tonight and every night.
Lisa B.
Thanks, Darla!

After talking to Lisa Brenner, I called Kathleen to see if she would be available for lessons on Saturday (November 21st). She would be willing to come up early Saturday morning, but has to be in Albuquerque at 2:00 p.m., which means she would have to finish here by 12:00 (noon).
If you are interested in a lesson with Kathleen on Saturday morning, please email me ASAP so I can get back with her.

Hi All-
Tomorrow, Thursday Nov 19, 5:30 PM at the Aquatic Center
Parks and Recreation Board Meeting
on the agenda - 2 items of interest to Stables -
1) Rendija Canyon plans
and
2) License status -
at this time, Parks is holding to the idea that, if an improvement is sold, the
new owner is required to pay the full years license fee of $400.00. There is no
refund of the fees already paid to the previous owner, and the fee is not
pro-rated. This is not the way it has been done for over 30 years, and there is
nothing in the current rules and regs or license agreement that states it must
be done this way. The other issue is the right of survivorship. Parks contends
that there is no right of survivorship of the licenses. If you die, your
license goes to the next person on the waiting list no matter who you leave your
property (barns, horses) to. I wonder if Parks will take care of your horses?
at any rate, I am sorry for the late notice, but I think it is very important to
have as many stable owners as possible at this meeting.
The position I think we should take is that there should be a right of
survivorship, and that either a) fees are pro-rated for new occupants, and
refunded for exiting occupants OR b) the license fee be IMMEDIATELY changed to
$25.00 and the "fee for service" be $375.00.
Even if you do not own a lot, this impacts all horseowners in the area, and we
would appreicate your support!
Hope to see you there!
Lisa

Super, thanks for the info. I'll let the hunt breakfast planner know that just one of us will stay for the breakfast -- and if anyone else is interested in coming down Saturday to Buckman, let me know today so I can update the breakfast count!
Regarding Sunday with Juan Tomas, I'll trailer Lauren down, and may or may not bring Jellybean depending on how hard he works Saturday.

I know im a little late in replying but i would love to come hunt this
saturday morning! The sunday hunt with Juan Tomas i wont be able to
though, cus i have alot to do this weekend homework wise and after
buckman, star will need a few days. also, i will have to leave right
after we finish so most likely we shall be taking our own trailer up

may end up having to go to Sunday's Juan Tomas hunt, which will be just
on the south side of Santa Fe, although I would just as soon not work my
horse two hunts in two consecutive days. I haven't heard from Michelle
about Saturday's hunt, although she has come with me on the last couple
of local hunts.

I forgot about the 22nd hunt. I don't think the hubby will forgive another horse related weekend so quickly. I was thinking about the next couple hunts. If anyone is looking at going to those on the Saturdays let me know.

Wanted to see if there was anyone, with trailer space, that is planning on attending any of the up coming local hunts. Brenna would like to attend a few this season.

Whoopee! what a weekend! I sure had fun - I slept in, didn't have to feed or
muck.....hmmmm -think I'll go again next year!
Our gang made a very good showing - ably coached by Kathleen and Laura - and
many a comment was made about our neat aisles and good horse care! go Pony
Club!
In the Jr Beginner Novice Combined Test, Erin and Smudge were 1st despite a
lovely buck before the last stadium fence! Brenna and Nina were 2nd and had a
very nice, calm SJ round!
In the JBN Horse Trials, Michelle and Star finished 8th - nice dressage, clean
XC, and only one rail on SJ. Mariah and Ebony were 9th. NIce dressage, clean
SJ, and clean XC with an itty bitty time fault. Kaitlyn and Mattie were 12th.
Nice dressage, nice stadium - a stop at the water, but when re-presented, she
went right through. Rachel and Prancer were 13th - nice dressage, but Prancer
was not feeling quite up to his usual self - clean stadium, but a stop at #2
XC.The rest of his course was great.
A big thanks to Maddison adn Lauren for helping out!
so, I think a good time was had by all - Steve Boerigter is an now an honorary
HSM (Horse Show Mom), but if he says "Nay-Nay" again in the presence of Donna,
Dea Dea, Lisa B, Lisa R, Darla, Samara or Laura, we will have to cut out his
tongue. Thanks to the mommies for the snacks and coffee, and Donna for finding
the great restaurant!
Next one is Presidents Day in Feb!
cheers!
Lisa
oh my gosh, it is that time of year already!
Sunday Dec 6th is our annual Luminaria Walk -
this year the County is helping us with the logistics - the posse Shack, the
road closure, the sand - but we need to
1) get out the information and order fliers to barns
2) collect and process the orders
3) do the bags and get them set up
4) get trucks and trailers and drivers for the hayrides
5) DECORATE!
Samara has ordered the candles already -
AND - do we want to have a LAPC float in the Light parade on Dec 5?
