Hi LAPC gang,

I'll tackle these news items in reverse order, since one's long and
one's short.

FIRST: The May 19 LAPC Mounted Meeting, set for the 3rd weekend of the
month, is being MOVED back to May 12, since May 19 is 1) a USPC Board
of Gov's meeting and I'll be in Kentucky for it, 2) the Coconino Horse
Trials, 3) LAHS Prom!!!!!!!! and 4) the Robert Taylor clinic at WMPC.

So with the 19th fully occupying many members, let's slide back to the
12th and have a nice jumping session. If you cannot attend on the
12th, but you are going to the WMPC Taylor clinic, you get a free
pass, it will not count against your Member in Good Standing points!

I'll teach the D2s at 9, the D3/C group at 10:30, and the D1s at
11:30. Meanwhile the D3/Cs do unmounted with the D1s at 9, then I'll
do unmounted with the D2s, D3s and Cs at 12:30.

SECOND: Having had a marvelous and exhausting few weeks with the St.
John's regional rallies, followed by Cleanup Day and the Manuela
Clinic and Combined Test, and with the Colorado Horse Trials Rally
coming up fast, your noble leaders are sending you on a Scavenger Hunt
to Albuquerque this weekend instead of holding the May 6, First
Weekend of Month Mounted Meeting. . . your job is to come back with
proof that you have attended the New Mexico Horse Fair, either
Saturday, Sunday, or both! And when you go, please, please do wear Los
Alamos Pony Club shirts!!!!

We need a Parent In Charge to coordinate carpooling, etc. as we will
be giving our own families a little much-needed quality, non-horse
time at home. The Horse Fair is NOT an official, insurance-covered
LAPC event, as it's mostly a road trip and PC doesn't cover
transportation. But it's a fun thing, and I hope you guys can go enjoy
it! This, also, will not count against your Member in Good Standing
status, not to worry.

Here's the deal on the Horse Fair, which will feature Dressage (with
Santa Fe's own Katrin Silva), Resistance-Free Training, Horsemanship
for Women, Colt Starting, Breed Demos, and of course our favorite
part, the Trade Show shopping opportunities!

It's time for the New Mexico Horse Council Horse Fair 2007, to be held
at Expo New Mexico (the New Mexico State Fairgrounds) in Albuquerque
on May 5th and 6th, 2007.

The theme of the 2007 Fair is:
Horses and People – Hoofprints through Time

We are happy to welcome back RICHARD SHRAKE (www.richardshrake.com)
and his Resistance Free® training methods as the headliner at the 2007
Fair. Richard Shrake has mentioned that the largest group of new
riders is in the "over 50" age group, and he intends to address their
needs and concerns. Richard is sponsored by Sandia Trailer Sales and
Service.

The "voice of horse expos", WAYNE WILLIAMS, will be our master of
ceremonies and on-site manager. Wayne Williams has appeared at more
than 25 Horse Fairs and Expos (including New Mexico), and among his
other activities produces the "Speaking of Horses" radio program for
HorseTradeShow.com.

Last year's Fair was very successful, according to our exit surveys.
In 2007, we hope for many more people to attend the Fair! They will
be welcomed by Richard Shrake and other clinicians, including New
Mexico's own best people (equal to anyone in the country); the
American Quarter Horse Association program, "ride an American Quarter
Horse"; the Mane Street Vendors; the Kid's Corral; Breed demos;
entertainment; and a huge silent auction. Admission this year is FREE!

For assistance, call the NMHC main number at (505) 345-8959.

Have a wonderful time, and see you May 12 ready to jump!

Nancy
