Merry Christmas from Great Lakes, Il

I wish all the practitioners of the Liu Seong gungfu group and all
the Kuntao, silat and other IMA practitioners a belated Christmas. I
guess I should introduce myself as I have been a lurker and was
referred to this group by one of my Kuntao Instructors (Carl Spitale)
some 2 yrs back and just was being a fly on the wall.

My name is Bill Anderson and I have been practicing the Chinese and
Filipino Kuntao arts since the early 70s when I lived and was
stationed in the Philippines and Taiwan.. I am/was from the
Maharlika Kuntaw/Kuntao group from Carlito Lanada from 1975 through
1993 when I left the organization due to personal reasons and floated
in limbo while researching and practicing kuntaw/kuntao systems to
add to my own knowledge.. I primarily stayed with Chinese and
filipino Kuntaw systems but have concentrated with the influences of
both martial cultures as I go to the Philippines and train with some
of the chinese/filipino practitioners of the Kuntao systems there..
Ihave friends who train in tat kuntao in cebu and I have also trained
in a system of Kuntaw called Kalintaw which is a family system out of
the Malabanas region of Pampanga Philippines..

Sifu Carl and I go back to a time when Kuntao was not widely known
outside of the chinese and filipino communities.. We have spent a lot
of time talking and researching the similarities of the chinese and
filipino systems of Kuntao and I must state with respect that Sifu
Carl has helped me close a lot of holes in my research..

I have been working at Great Lakes Naval station since June of 05 and
just been maintaining a low profile as to my teaching of kuntao has
been on a back burner due to a conflicting job schedule and the
ability to have some students within the local area.. I have been
working with a couple of guys in the chicago area from time to time,
but with the scheduling difficulties, it has been few and far between
as far as hands on training..

I have been concentrating on the Law enforcement and security fields
as far as my teaching for the past 30 yrs as I am retired military
and was working as a federal law enforcement officer with the navy
and have lived on guam until june of 05 when I decided to come back
stateside..

I am going to be leaving the great lakes area within the next couple
of months to go back to guam and reenter the Law enforcement field
with the Navy as a police officer.

Mas Judt with respect, I hope to be able to come and visit your
school before I go back overseas and observe a class with your
permission..

Sifu Carl,
I will be giving you a call later on this week and let you know how
one of my senior blackbelt students has progressed since I last saw
him.. He is working in the security field as a contractor and is on
the road a lot with his job..

With Respect,

Bill Anderson
