I just thought I'd let everyone know that I found out where Sifu Dan was during the seminar in Rochester.  I just got of the phone with him and here's what happened.

 

It was day two of his honeymoon, and he and his new bride were out on a sight seeing tour by donkey ride in the Poconos.  There was a fallen tree across his donkey's path and after he jumped over the tree he continued to buck down the trail throwing Sifu Dan.  He landed on some rocks and was semi-seriously hurt.  They had to walk out of there (about two miles) and then go to the hospital.  They said he broke his scapula and one rib (as it turns out, they mis-diagnosed him).  They discharged him to go home.  Sevaral days later after sitting on the couch, he finally decided to go to his doctor to get a second opinion.  Good thing he did,  the immediately admitted him. He actually broke 3 ribs and puctured his lung.  If he waited another few days he would've been dead.

 

He was just released today and is feeling better.  He won't be able to teach at all for a couple of weeks until his shoulder heals a bit more, but it's much better than it could've been. He was pretty lucky he didn't land on his head.
