I'm a new student to the martial arts world. Recently training
techniques I noticed something I didn't like. While moving at a
moderate speed all movement seemed to be fluid. The slower I moved I
felt my technique falling apart. Naturally, this made me feel
uncoordinated and without thought move faster to compensate for my
sloppiness. I've learned from my seniors that a broken technique at
slow pace is an important part of a martial artist's learning
process. In order for me to develope true coordination my movement
must be at a slow speed, if not I'm just lying to myself
(subcontious). This is where the artist has to make a REAL decision;
I can do what looks good and develope a horrible(false)
technique, or I can do what looks horrible and will s--l--o--w--l--y
develope into a magnificent(real) technique. Studying the arts I'm
finding out it can be impossible to even tell the truth to yourself
at times but I don't stress that; what do you really know if you
don't know yourself? (Dwell on that).
I'm just happy it's people around me caring enough to plant those
seeds but it totally my responsibility to cultivate them...
(Cultivate on that).
Peace
Water Boy
