Yeah he used a modified pre-exhaust that allowed for a bit of rest
between exercises, unlike Art Jones/ Mentzer pre exhaust which
involves moving from one movement straight into the other. Dorian's
version allows for more weight to be used during the second exercise
and also allows the trainee to stay anaerobic. I've tried both, both
have their benefits.
Regards squats and deads in the same workout, like everything else it
depends on what you are trying to accomplish and your stage of
training. At one point I was doing both in the same workout, which
caused a lot of growth. There also was a time where I super setted 20
rep squats with 15 rep stiff-legged deadlifts, that was brutal.
Nowadays I perform them on different days, Sunday overall thighs and
deadlifts on Mondays every 3 weeks.
So to answer your question you have to see what format allows you to
get stronger while gaining mass, experiment.
