If you have a hard time sleeping at night, I tend to be more wired up
at night-early morning, then sleep aids can help you get a good nights
sleep. I have found a supplement called GABA and a supplement called
Melatonin to be very beneficial in inducing sound sleep.

The GABA is said ti promote growth hormone release, from what I have
read that you would have to consume large amounts to get that effect.
I know it promotes relaxation and sooths the nervous system. A good
nights rest, particularly REM sleep promotes GH release, and GH
relelase is tied to muscle gains, optimal sex drive, younger looking
skin, fat loss and better overall mood. I use 750 mg of GABA when I
want to promote more restful sleep.

Melatonin is a hormone that promotes restful sleep. The body naturally
releases melatonin when thew sun goes down, supplemental use can be
beneficial for some. It promotes a good even slumber and quality REM
sleep. Some people report drowsiness upon awaking which might be
linked to dosage. 3mg is generally recommended 1-2 hours prior to
sleeping, if this amount causes drowsiness I would cut the dosage back
to 1-2mg.

I have also found a good effect with soothing teas such as Camomeal (I
know thats the wrong spelling).
