John,

I buy our targets and tape from Alco targets in CA. they are .50 per target with 1000 purchased, a little more with a 500 order. It really comes down to shipping. I can get targets cheaper, but they come from idaho or kentucky, then i pay 30% more on shipping.

metal targets from MGM or R&R. lookup randracing, you should find it. I can get the web address for you if you need it. Plate racks are pricey. MGM does make an econo model which works well. they are ar500 steel.

We recently purchased:

R&R racing: drop turner , clamshell and swinger.

4 new US poppers and bases (yet to ship)

MGM: Texas star (yet to ship)
5 steel challenge 12" plates, endcaps and stands

Alco: 1000 targets, tape (white, black, and tan)

total cost: 3900$

We have yet to buy some more steel tubing for target stands, I'd like to make about 75 stands, and about 20 more stands for walls. We could use about 16 more wall sections as well, we currently have 16. We also reimbursed Justin and myself for the Nm sectional match for 2008.

We currently have steel cut for more poppers, Justin has the current tally on those. In 5 years we have come a long way. Plus we have more pistol bays coming in the near future and also have a nice storage building built for our use.

We have around 500$ left in the account. Raffle?

Our regular match will be on May 2nd, this class will be on the 3rd.

Pat Doyle and Robert Mullan will be instructing, any other shooters are of
course welcome and appreciated.

IPSC 101
If you've ever thought you might like to try shooting an IPSC match, but felt
Intimidated by:
• Lack of experience in formal competition
• Lack of confidence in your marksmanship skills or your gun handling ability
• Fear of embarrassing yourself;
• Fear of the unknown;
• Or ladies – too many men/not enough women shooters

Fear no more, this is the clinic for you!

On Sunday, May 3rd, we are having an "Introduction to IPSC" shooting clinic. The
clinic will be held at the Butterfield range where we regularly host our
matches.

The clinic is going to be geared for both the beginner shooter who has at least
the knowledge of basic pistol skills and those with experience in other shooting
disciplines (IDPA, NRA Bulls eye, PPC, etc.) that have an interest in trying our
exciting sport.

The class will cover:
*Range Safety and Procedures
*Equipment
*Divisions & Classification System
*Scoring
*Courses of Fire

What to bring:
Eye and ear protection (Mandatory on LGC ranges)
Handgun: Semi-Automatic or Revolver (minimum 9mm caliber)
At least 2 magazines (3 - 4 would be better) or speed loaders/moon clips for
revolver to provide at least 24 rds.
About 100 rounds of ammo.
Holster and magazine or speed loader holders (Not mandatory, but helpful)
Notebook and writing utensil.

Start time is 10 am. We will have multiple shooting scenarios along with a
small field course. Shooters should bring 100 rounds of ammo, though i
anticipate one will not this much. We will be in the east end of the pistol
bays, bay 5 or 6. A 5$ donation from each shooter would be good to cover the
cost of targets, tape, and shooting sticks.

Went to breakfast early this AM at the local Cracker
Barrel. Afterwards decided to make a trip to Walmart nearby
(westside, El Paso) to see what they had. Miracle of
miracles. Found 100-ct WWB value packs of .45 ACP, ..40 S&W, and 9mm
available. Also found the 550-ct of Remington .22 in
stock. Apparently they had just gotten them in as they were still in
boxes behind the counter. No, I didn't buy them all-only 1 box of
each. Get it while it's available-it may not be there tomorrow.

4 stages total with the classifier.

We did buy 5 more 12" steel challenge plates and stands from MGM. We have also
purchased a new MGM star, so now we'll have two.
that is in addition to the R&R drop turner, clamshell and swinger we purchased
last month, now we have two of each of those. I plan on buying some more steel
tubing for more walls and target stands.

Sunday will be a work day at the shed, if you are free please come on out. I
need to reorganize the shed and get those wooden walls out of there as we don't
use them. I'll be there about noon.

Rimfire is allowed. optical or iron sights. 5 mags is best, if you have less
have someone load them up for you while you are on the line.

Mark your calenders.

May 10th and october 11th are machinge gun matches. 4 stages for
subgun and a machine gun stage. subgun stages will be very much like
IDPA/USPSA type stages with ports, swingers, etc. these days are the
second sundays of those months.

The machine gun stage will be a metallic knock down at 100 and 200
yards.

mag capacity is limited to 30 rounds. expect about 60 rounds per
stage. Machine gun shouldn't need more than 50 total.

this match will be hosted by PGC as the sponsoring club.
