Excellent job.  I knew you were the best candidate for the office.
When will the recorded version be available for download on Napster?

Subject: [LakesideCycling] Lakeside Meeting Notes: 12/5/06 ** Tis the season **

Sorry for the delay, I thought some Christmas themed meeting notes were in order, but it took me a while to convert them.

Lakeside Meeting Notes:   12/5/06

President: Keith - Badger

VP: Ben - Dover

Treasurer Sherry - DD

Scribe: Mike - Griz

Members Present: Keith, Richard, Sherry, Steve, Greg, Mike, Berna Sue, and Ben.

Twas the meeting before Christmas and all through the restaurant.

Bike club members were stirring, for their beer they did want.

Their orders were hanging on their lips with great care.

In hopes that some wait staff would soon be there.

But the wait staff were nestled all snug in their beds.

While visions of good tips danced out of our heads.

Membership Renewals / New Members:

to the tune of "Here comes Santa Claus"

It's renewal time

It's renewal time

Sign up and join today

Badger and Dover and all our riders

Want to know your name

Bells are ringing, riders singing

All is merry and bright

Grab your helmet and say I'm ready

`Cause joining this club feels right.

Membership cards:

All the Who's down in Who-ville liked Dover's sample a lot

They called for a vote and a design we've now got

The next stop of course is to print them all out

But we can't do that until we've finished our stout.

 Treasury report:

You better watch out, you better not cry

Better not pout, I'm telling you why

The treasurer had our balance tonight

Sherry counted our funds, she counted them twice,

gonna find out if we've been naughty or nice,

Please tell us how good the club's done

We kept down our expenses

by not buying awards

so our good Time Trial riders

were just good for goodness sake

Oh! You better watch out, you know they will cry

But they better not pout, I'm telling you why

We have four hundred thirty five bucks

Now for some real business. Here are a few expenses we may need to budget for this year.

1)     Liability Insurance (roughly $100)

2)     League of American Bicyclist membership is $35

3)     Joining the MO Bike Federation maybe $40

Bike Schedule - Winter Rides - Yahoo & Email:

Frosty bike riders are all jolly happy souls

You know we still ride when it's cold outside

Though the message board's been slow

Frosty bike riders are a fairy tale, they say

We're not made of snow but the children

know that we'll ride in it some days

There must have been some magic in those

old silk tights they found

for when they place them on their legs,

they began to ride around

O, Frosty bike riders

Are as nuts as they can be

Frosty riders say you can laugh and play,

so go out yourself and see

Tappity tap tap,

Clickity click click,

Post your rides here so

Tappity tap tap,

Clickity click click,

Others can join you and go

Keith was talking to Chris Lock and Chris mentioned that Cowtown is planning rides from the QT across from Target on Saturdays at 10AM

Flyers:

We wish you would print some flyers

We wish you would print some flyers

Quality two sided color flyers

To be placed in bike shops

Glad tidings we'd bring

To you for the help

Glad tidings for flyers

To be placed in bike shops

Club Logo:  (to the tune of  The First Noel)

The Club Logo, is still under way

We are working our artist to the bone night and day

With our adds, and deletes, another change we won't keep

It's a wonder she hasn't told us to go bleep

Shelly, Shelly, Shelly, Shelly

Thank you for drawing those changes so sleek.

PS: Ben will send out the latest version Shelley has worked up.

CLUB SPONSORSHIP:

I was going to do the 12 sponsors of Christmas, but, we DON'T have 12 sponsors so, you are saved! We're still open for more sponsorship suggestions to add to our current list.

·   Richard is going to talk to Joe (from Cycle City) more about costs for Jerseys and possible sponsoring.

·   Ben to check with The Wheel and a Real Estate company

·   Still open for other members to solicit more potential sponsors.

CLUB Jerseys:

·        No updates.  (whew)

Constitution & Bylaws:

Keith is working

pa rum pum pum pum

On some bylaws to read,

pa rum pum pum pum

His finest work he'll bring

pa rum pum pum pum

To lay before the Club

pa rum pum pum pum

rum pum pum pum

rum pum pum pum

So to honor Him

pa rum pum pum pum,

let's have more rum.

Time Trials for next year:  (to the tune of White Christmas)

We're dreaming of next years Time Trials

Unlike like the ones we used to know

We can rest on Mondays

and race on Tuesdays

so fast, we'll make our bikes go

We'll be racing every two weeks

And we'll be riding two full laps

May the gear you take off with be right

And may all our Time Trials be bright

We are planning to hold time trials at the Downtown Airport again in 2007 and it will  be a two lap format this year.  (roughly 7 miles)  We're looking at moving them to Tuesday nights to give us a day to recover after long weekend rides or races, and we're looking at doing them every other week to see if that makes it easier for folks to make it to more races.  Come to the next meeting prepared to discuss options!

We're also looking for ideas on how to streamline the race next season.

Last years method of splitting the group and having two people time everyone else, then letting them do their laps might take too much time with the two lap format.  If you have thoughts on how to improve on that method please let us know.

Current suggestions and thoughts are:

Recruit our non-riding friends or family to be timers.

Switch timers as soon as the first person finishes and can take over, rather than waiting for the entire first group to finish before changing timers.

Get a sponsor to donate a multi thousand dollar chip timing system!!

Upcoming events:

Just hear those bike bells jingling,

ring ting tingling too

January 1st we'll go whether

it's on bikes or a sleigh ride with you,

New Years the snow may be falling

but your friends are calling "Yoo hoo,"

Come on, it's lovely weather

for the first ride together with you.

Giddy yap, Giddy yap, Giddy yap,

Lets play, We'll ride New Years Day

We're riding from the Smithville dam okay!

Giddy yap, Giddy yap, Giddy yap,

It's grand, bring gloves for your hands

We're riding along with a song

and we'll leave around 10 AM

Our cheeks are nice and rosy

A bit cold and frozen maybe

We'll be huddled together

Riding bikes in cold weather you see

Let's take that road before us

and sing a chorus or two

Come on, it's lovely weather

for some Tom and Jerry's with you……

PS:  Distance to be determined by weather and "Wussiness"

Bring mountain bikes too. If it's really nice the crazier riders might do it in the dirt after running the roadies off into the frozen asphalt, or we may have to ride mountain bike in the snow!

PSS: Don't forget about the Tom and Jerry's afterward!

OPEN Discussion:

Richard may have a Cervelo Tri bike for sale.

Dec 13th the Wheel is having (oops, had) an open house from 7-9pm.

Sherry is on course in her proven training plan to prepare for Rock n Roll Marathon.

Steve hadn't run for a week, and hadn't run more than 7 miles as of the last meeting.

Potentially move Club Meeting to Mondays to avoid conflict with TT's.

FIMQ (Foot In Mouth Quote) of the meeting:   "I will finish, and I will beat her" Spoken by: Steve, in regards to the upcoming Rock n Roll Marathon.

What we believe Steve really meant:  Honestly, we have no idea what he was thinking.

Happy Holidays Lakesiders!

God Bless us everyone.
