RE: [LakesideCycling] Time Trial Options for 2007 Season

In 2007 daylight time is longer than before.  It's a couple weeks longer at each end, so we should be good with any of these schedules as far as daylight time is concerned, though we may catch some twilight at the start or finish weeks with the earliest and latest schedules.  My preference is the A schedule to get the season started earlier and end before the gales of October and the hurricane west wind blow us off the road.  At least the gales of April tend to be from the south and feels better after the winter.  As an alternative, there is no magic about a 12-TT season.  We could shorten it to 10.  Twelve TTs allows for some catch-up for those who miss several weeks, which could be good.  With that in mind, should we look at reinstating the old limitation of 10 TTs per rider?  In 2006 we had no limit so we could encourage more participation.  That worked well for me!!!  Just some things to think about for discussion next meeting.

With respect to Schedules C and D, have you checked when daylight savings time begins? I don't think weather would be much of an effect regardless of which schedule is chosen.

It has been proposed that we race every other week in 2007.

It's also been proposed to move the races to Tuesdays to give us another
day to recuperate after long weekend rides, or weekend races.

The chart below has 4 different starting dates (Columns A-D) Column A
shows the schedule if the TT's started on April 24th. Column B, C, and
D each start a week after the previous column.

The text is red shows when the Time Trials and the bike club meetings
would fall on the same night. Schedules "A" and "C" only have two
nights that happens. Schedule "B" has 4 nights and Schedule "D" has
three nights where the TT's and the meeting would be scheduled for the
same day. It's also been suggested to move the meetings to a different
night.

Take a look at the matrix, see what works for you, and come to next
months meeting prepared to discuss your preference.

I like the fund raising idea. I hope that for only a buck or two that non-members don't expect prizes. Even members shouldn't expect prizes, but I digress....
