LCC Meeting Notes from 10-3-06   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #773 of 3041 |
Hello Lakers.  Another in the endless series of LCC monthly meetings was held on October  3, 2006.  Here's a good share of what we discussed:
  • Notable Items
    • There were no really historic or notable quotes this time. We were all still in awe of the "I can take it any way I want to" line from DD during the last meeting.
    • In keeping with tradition, one food order was forgotten (mine).  I hope this improves for future meetings.
    • Kansas Police were issuing tickets for riding 2-abreast during Octaginta.
    • Since the meeting, cycling Badger was pulled-over by a Platte Woods police officer and informed that bicycles are banned from the roads in Platte Woods, along with Weatherby Lake, Lake Waukomis, and Parkville.  Badger to issue a separate report on this.
  • Treasury
    • The treasurer was absent, but it was assumed that no funds had been stolen, lost, etc.
  • Brochure/Flyer
    • The latest up-to-date version is on the yahoo site and can be printed and distributed by anyone.
    • Flyers were placed at the Wheel and have been getting taken, hopefully by prospective members or riders.
  • Yahoo Site
    • No new sign-ups lately.
    • Fairly quiet as far as messages go in the last few weeks.
    • Keep the chatter going about group rides and alternate ride times, particularly when the weather starts to turn nasty and cold in the mornings.
  • Ride Schedule
    • Wednesday MTB is at 6:00 pm at Smokin Davey Trailhead, not the 7 pm reported last time.
    • Saturday Dam Rides still at 8:00 am until the weather turns bad.
  • Insurance
    • Will pursue a quote later in the year and begin coverage in February.
  • Club Logo
    • Waiting for Chapstick to submit ideas. Dover will follow-up with her.
    • Dover's artist coworker's idea or one of it's derivatives are the front runners right now.
  • Club Sponsorships
    • Side Pockets will sponsor at a rate of $10 per shirt/jersey.
    • Homeward Bound Health Care will definitely sponsor - this is Cricket's wife's business.
    • Latitudes will definitely sponsor - this is Cricket's Caribbean shop in Parkville
      • THANKS FOR THE GENEROUS OFFERS, CRICKET.
    • Platte Valley Bank definitely will NOT sponsor us per Hammer.
    • Shatto Dairy needs to be checked - Nail to follow-up.
    • The Wheel and Carter-Duffy Realty- Dover to check.
    • Cycle City - Timex to check.
  • Club Jerseys
    • Velo News article identified Hincapie and Louis Garneau as the best large vendors. Other smaller companies also perform this service.
    • It would be preferable if we can get the model name of a jersey from a vendor so we can check fit and construction at a local shop before we purchase them sight unseen.
    • A marketing/logo/shirt provider happened to overhear the club conversation and expressed interest and will contact Badger next week.
    • Need to check on cost per sponsor logo to make certain we are covering the cost of logo plus funding for the club.
    • Need to get more firm pricing of jerseys from vendors.
  • Officer Elections (That's ELECTIONS with an "L")
    • Say hello to V.P. Dover and Secretary Grizz, who were unanimously elected to two year terms by the club members present at the meeting.
    • No absentee ballots nor nominations were received.
  • Club Party - BBQ - Ride
    • Saturday October 28th
    • The Grizzes's Hacienda (location and directions will be emailed).
    • Optional road ride at 3:00 pm - about 11 miles - party to follow.
    • Optional MTB ride around their pond till you get dizzy - unless you are already dizzy before you start (I know a few of these people).
    • Grills available - bring your own meat to cook (Lamar to bring his wiener).
    • Bring a dish to pass (with food in it).
    • Bring lawn chairs, unless you are one of those dizzy people and prefer to be nearer to ground level.
    • B.Y.O.B.
    • AWARDS PRESENTATION TO THE TIME TRIAL SERIES POINTS CHAMPION !!!
  • Bylaws
    • At the November meeting we will begin discussing club bylaws (which will probably be required when we join LAB and purchase their insurance next year).
    • Badger will borrow some examples of bylaws from other sources to review.
  • Membership Cards
    • We will issue club membership cards starting with the 2007 membership year.
    • Dover to design for review at the next meeting.
  • Upcoming Events
    • Moonshine Parkville ride and Dover's Halloween ride are on hiatus for now.
    • Fall party - see above.
    • BonkFest - Earthriders ride in Arkansas.  Hammer and others are traveling to this ride.
    • Sadler's Indoor Racing - TBD
    • Brigade Football - TBD
Me thinks that's it...other than to say...
  • NEXT MEETING:
    • Tuesday  Nov. 7th - Election Day (with an "L") - 7:00 pm
    • Side Pockets - US 169 & Englewood Road
    • Don't forget to VOTE Early and Often
