Nearly perfect temperature, low humidity, and a rather strong north-by-northwest wind greeted the LCC time trialers this week. The wind made the 2 miles on the backstretch feel like 100 Km and the little hill at the NW corner of the course feel like L'Alpe d'Huez. At least we could fly at 25-30 mph down the home stretch.
Five of us - Badger, Richard, Grizz, Dover, and Lamar (in that order) - fought the wind and the wind won. Actually, the times weren't that bad. The top three were fairly close, with only a single second separating Badger and Grizz for 2nd and 3rd.
Just when Dover was breaking out the champagne to celebrate victory, along came Softie. We threatened him with adding 5 minutes to his finishing time for being late, but he quickly concocted a rather lame excuse of being in a "work meeting". Yeah, right. We compromised on not letting him warm-up. That didn't seem to make any difference as he burned a 9:48 for first place.
