A funny polar plunger story:
In the Goblin Gallop race, many runners wear costumes. At the
Adirondack Runners website you can see Brian Teague's photos of
runners in costumes from past events.
I went as a Polar Plunger in yesterday's race. I was even carrying a
plunger. On my shirt, promoting the upcoming January 1st event I had
written "Polar Plungers." "Plunge" was in blue and the "rs" was in
red.
While running, a couple passed me and the man was reading my shirt
aloud and asked what the "R5" stood for.
I said it was "RS" not "R5."
"What does that mean?"
"Plungers."
A few more strides and he said nothing more. But the girl finally
says, "Oh, plungers! I get it!."
