The Lake George New Years Day Polar Bear Swim is held annually on January 1st at Shepard's Park in Lake George, New York. This event kicks off the Lake George Winter Carnival.
Polar Plunge participants are encouraged to also join the swims during the Winter Carnival every Saturday and Sunday, in February, at same location.
The Lake George Polar Plunge is a continuation of the Lake George Polar Bear Club which was founded by the late Charlie "Papa Bear" Albert.

Trivia: This event was filmed by South Korean TV for the show "World Panorama" on 1/1/1994.

A video can be seen on the Capital News 9 website of the 1/1/2008 event. Despite the heavy snow and bad driving conditions, we had about 650 swimmers. By the
