The Lake George New Years Day Polar Bear Swim is held annually on January 1st at Shepard's Park in Lake George, New York. This event kicks off the Lake George Winter Carnival.

Polar Plunge participants are encouraged to also join the swims during the Winter Carnival every Saturday and Sunday, in February, at same location.

The Lake George Polar Plunge is a continuation of the Lake George Polar Bear Club which was founded by the late Charlie "Papa Bear" Albert.

Did you see Elvis in the water on 1/1/06?

Trivia: This event was filmed by South Korean TV for the show "World Panorama" on 1/1/1994.

Registration is being advertised as being at Duffy's Tavern, starting at 10:30 am, on Tuesday, January 1, 2008. Swim is at 2:00 pm in Shepherd Park.
