One October afternoon Pamela Wynette Scoville Frank Samhouri Labato came to visit Janey Yoo in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Many years ago, these two were fellow teammates on a team formerly known as the Lehigh Valley Maulie Maguires, and alongside a several players, were a formidable force in the EPRU in both 15's and summer 7's.
Pam moved down to Bucks County, and Janey moved to the West Coast to finally realize her dream to work with chubby kids, and live in the birthplace of grunge. Last year, again in a twist of events, Janey finds herself in South Gulfcoast working with chubby kids and running away from Hurricanes...and Pam finds herself back at home and starting her life with an old love.
Both Pam and Janey are still playing rugby and playing pretty strong (i might add!) and found themselves in awkward situation when Houston Area Rugby Club (HARC- Pam's team) and New Orleans Halfmoons (Janey's team) were scheduled a match in october. The call for captains were made, and Pam and Janey found themselves in the exclusive captain circle.
Though it was a tough game and Houston winning...(royally kicking NOLA's butts)...Pam and Janey were able to play in a 2nd game playing the #12 and #13 position, and proved that being over the age of 30 does not mean your rugby skills are in a decline...in fact that skills that they obtained in Monocacy is still with them. (I scored 4 tries...which makes me the winner BARNAK...how many have you scored lately, and being retired does not count!)
Anyway, unfortunately, we don't have a photo of us in our respective uniforms but we do have our photo in the after party!!!
PS NEW ORLEANS Halfmoons have their Mardi Gras tournament...and they also have a weekend of rebuilding homes in the 9th ward. If you are interested in coming down to visit, let me know...
Much LOVE
Janey
