I'll let you know for sure when i get my work/work schedule, but if i don't work lunch shift I should be in....

I want to remember how terrible I felt from about mile 10-26 last year (the crowd took me the last .2) :)

I know Brit is running this year, and other LRRC members running??

Hope I can take a few hours off on Monday morning to join y'all.

Some of the other club members that I saw listed under entrants were:
Diana Widdowson, Bill Doherty and Marcus Grimm.
Also from Lancaster: Peter Barber and Bill Boben.
There may be other members on the list, but those are the ones that I noticed.

We have an event coming up on May 18 (evening before our spring 5K).  That evening, from 5-6PM at Franklin and Marshall College (Roschel Performing Arts Center lobby), we're hosting a special event called Local SHEroes, where two local women who competed in the 2011 Olympic marathon trials will be sharing their stories.  Additional event information can be found on the attached flyer.  Pre-race registration for our 5K will also be available that night from 4:30 - 7:30 PM at F&M.

Thanks so much!

Yes, thats prob about right with 800ish sign-ups , no shows and DNF's. I ended
at consistent +/-300 place as last several but enjoyed new course with as many
if not more rocky parts which caused one nasty fall on my run. Not much mud this
year.

Seems about right. The change to the new course due to the unavailability of
Antietam Lake Park may have reduced the field, but I and several others we spoke
to thought the new course is, if anything, harder than the old course. Not as
many long climbs, but lots more technical areas, rocks, and what some call MUDS
(mindless ups and downs) which can really wear you down. I thought it was/is a
good course, but I do miss the lake.

My big mistake was mistaking the margaritas for gatoraid and swigging it down.
Sil would have been proud of my throwing up a mile later.

Sorry, Bob,

Margaritas are an unfair advantage in the quest for the ultimate puke. According to the International Council On Good Pukes, a runner must not have consumed  anything other than non-alcoholic liquids for at least 12 hours before a race to qualify.

Tequila makes throwing up practically a sure thing, whether you're running or not.

In Hershey. The old timers here rememember (maybe they can) when 10 k was sort
of the the standard road-race distance. You could find one almost every week.
The old Adamstown race was a 10k, so was the old Elizabetown race (several
courses) the Run for Peace, also in E-town, the Chocolate Chase in Hershey, and
the old Appalachian AC also held several 10 k's. But in recent years it's almost
disappeared in favor of 5 k's. But there are still some. This was a big event
in Hershey, with 1,489 finishers, and a 7 A M start. Wow, almost 1,500 runners
for a 7 AM start. The early start was necessary because about a mile and a half
of the course ran thru Hersheypark and it had to be before the park opened for
the day. It was an interesting course, with no mile markings but kilometer
signs, even quarter kilometer signs, (every 250 meters, 4.25 km, 4.50 km, 5.00
km, 5.25 km. . . . ). Good, well organized event.

What was interesting was there were 570 male finishers and 919 female
finishers. Is this representative of road races (what about trail races?) in
general or was it just a strange ratio related specifically to the Hershey race?

Anyway, it was good to have a 10 km back on the schedule. I'd forgotten how hard
they can be.

Just an fyi...the Turkey Hill Country Classic, used to be a 10k only race but now both a 5k and 10k event, is coming up on May 5th.  This is a well organized race as well if you never had the chance to attend.

But in recent years it's almost disappeared in favor of 5 k's. But there are still some. This was a big event in Hershey, with 1,489 finishers, and a 7 A M start. Wow, almost 1,500 runners for a 7 AM start. The early start was necessary because about a mile and a half of the course ran thru Hersheypark and it had to be before the park opened for the day. It was an interesting course, with no mile markings but kilometer signs, even quarter kilometer signs, (every 250 meters, 4.25 km, 4.50 km, 5.00 km, 5.25 km. . . . ). Good, well organized event.

What was interesting was there were 570 male finishers and 919 female finishers. Is this representative of road races (what about trail races?) in general or was it just a strange ratio related specifically to the Hershey race?

Anyway, it was good to have a 10 km back on the schedule. I'd forgotten how hard they can be.

In Hershey. The old timers here rememember (maybe they can) when 10 k was sort of the the standard road-race distance. You could find one almost every week. The old Adamstown race was a 10k, so was the old Elizabetown race (several courses) the Run for Peace, also in E-town, the Chocolate Chase in Hershey, and the old Appalachian AC also held several 10 k's. But in recent years it's almost disappeared in favor of 5 k's. But there are still some. This was a big event in Hershey, with 1,489 finishers, and a 7 A M start. The Cocalico Community 5k is next weekend (4/28 @ 8:30am) as well.  Small but fun race in the Denver area.  89 participants last year.  The race starts and ends at Cocalico HS (Eagle Stadium).

Travis.
