Reminders:
1. Newsletter articles Must reach me by next Wednesday - August 19. I'll be vacationing at the normal deadline date, so write vigorously this week.
2. Triathlon Volunteers - The course is different this year, but we still need volunteers. You reliable ones know how much fun it is, so please let me know who will be there and what size shirt you want. They'll be a highly visible yellow this year.
3. Weekend Racing Report - Instead of going north to Bowmansville for the Ox Trot, I tried something different and went south for the SECA 5K in Quarryville. The course isn't as insane as the Ox Trot, but it's still challenging, going uphill for the first mile and a quarter.
A small group of LRRCers showed up - Travis Hess, Diana Griffiths, Frank McCardell, Evan, Karen, Miles and Rae Sandt, and Sil. Age group winners were Evan, Karen, and Sil, with Travis taking second to Evan in 30-39.
In that most vicious rivalry in all of road racing, Sil nipped Karen (and Miles, Rae, and that 50-pound stroller contraption) by about 45 seconds. Afterwards, Karen vowed revenge, while Sil muttered something about dropping tacks on the road or jamming a stick in the stroller's spokes. (Don't you yearn for the days when runners were friendly competitors?)
And congratulations to Heide for winning four events at the National Senior Championships in California.
