The Coaching Development Manager (CDM) will be based in the national office
of Athletics New Zealand, currently in Wellington.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this position is primarily focused
on the delivery of a national coach development programme and elite coach
support. This is a leadership position but may include some active education
delivery and coaching roles.

The role of the CDM is to provide strategic direction and operational
leadership for all aspects of Athletics New Zealand's Coaching Framework.
Specifically:

* To develop and implement a strategy to ensure New Zealand coaches
maximise their talent and achieve excellence from the regional to the
international stage.

* To determine the structure required to ensure the success of New
Zealand coaches, and hence athletes, nationally and internationally.

* To increase the quantity and quality of Athletics New Zealand's
coaching delivery base at all levels in New Zealand.

* To ensure good levels of support for our national teams coaching
staff.

* To implement the strategy and ensure adherence to the approach
through encouraging the buy-in of all key stakeholders.

* To establish excellent lines of communication between Athletics New
Zealand, Coaches, Athletes, Clubs, Centres and other relevant domestic and
international organisations.

* To maximise all opportunities available through partner
organisations such as the NZAS, NZOC, SPARC, corporate sponsors and members
of the Charities Gaming Association.

* To establish a Coach Development Framework that is benchmarked on
international best practice but adapted to maximise New Zealand talent.

Selection Criteria Essential

* A relevant tertiary qualification in coaching or an equivalent
experience base.

* Previous experience in policy and programme development.

* The proven ability to construct detailed implementation plans and
associated budgeting.

* Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to
be persuasive.

* Computer literacy is a must.

* The ability to demonstrate leadership and promote the values of
neutrality and balanced reasoning.

* An ability to form beneficial and professional relationships with a
range of external stakeholders including athletes, coaches, volunteers and
other sporting organisations.

Ability to work alone, yet lead a nationwide team of volunteers. Positive,
friendly and helpful disposition.
