Black Singlet Races   Message List

Hi Everyone,

It’s great to hear that about 15 people are going to be doing the Sylvia Potts Classic race. How many of you doing that race are going to be contesting either, or both, of the two Black Singlet races? The two meetings with walks are the Porritt Classic and the Capital Classic, on the 6th and 10th of February respectively. There will also be a 3000m walk on the 21st at the IAAF Permit Meeting in Christchurch.

I have talked to David Lonsdale and the walk in Wellington will also be a handicapped race. I will also talk to organizer of the Porritt Classic to get that race handicapped as well.

If we want Race Walking to improve its profile then as many people need to support these races as possible. I personally think the handicapping of the races should make exciting racing and good times.

If people don’t support these races then meeting organizers won’t include walks on the program next year.

Please support all the races you can, I’d love to see as many f you as possible

Tony Sargisson
