Manawatu Striders Super Seven Series, (Really SUPER)   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #842 of 960 |
This evening under a clear blue sky with only a zephyr of a breeze and 22 degrees of warmth 800 people of varying abilities competed in the first of the seven event series of 7km walks/runs sponsored by Vautier Pharmacy, a precious friend of ours. As far as I know they all enjoyed their participation and will return to better their new benchmarks established tonight.
This event, according to the organisers, is NOT a race, it just turns out that way.
Not being very interested in the run side of the event I do not know the name of the first finisher but his time was 25.10.
The walkers' result interested me more and the following times were diligently recorded: Diligent, That's a big word, I actually had to look it up in the dictionary.)
1.   Dean Cocks  42.10
2.   David Jones  44.13
3=  Evan Davies  45.19
3=  Glen White  45.19
5.   Darryl James  45.43  (first lady)
6.   Michelle Daly  47.05
7.   Denise Brunskill  47.51
8.   Kay Davenport  48.06
9.   Ross Archibald  48.20
10.  John Richdale  49.29
11.  Amanda Young  50.17
12.  Sharon Wright  50.24
13.  Andrus Lei  50.42  ( I bet you can't think up a NEW excuse, Andrus. I have already used them all.)
14.  Jackie Welch  57.46
15.  Judy Cocks  57.50
16=  Rose Kearns  58.04
16=  John Kearns  58.04

A great start to another series with several battles looming. Well done ALL.
Cheers,  Paul.

For those out-of town walkers, this series of events is being conducted each Tuesday for seven weeks and all of you would be very cordially welcome to compete. It is a great build-up to the New Zealand Masters Games in Wanganui or any other campaigns that you have in mind.
