Hi everyone,

Yesterday saw something of a 're-birth' of race walking in the Auckland area.

What a fantastic turnout - we had 27 people attending the 3rd clinic and short race we held yesterday. It was just awesome to see two 10 and 13 year old boys out walking and many women. I also received apologies from 5 others who could not make it, so I have to say I am very pleased and satisfied with the numbers.

On behalf of all those attending the clinics I want to say a special thankyou to Gary Little for running the 3 clinics. Thankyou also to Tony Sargisson and Mike Parker for your input and assistance in the clinics.

I also want to say a special thankyou to Aaron Carter, Race Director of the Auckland Marathon for forwarding my contact details onto those people who walked the Auckland marathon; Aaron's email can be attributed for many of the attendees at the walking clinics and for the increase in the number of people now race walking in the Auckland area.

I will shortly send out dates for future clinics. I hope to get the next round of clinics underway in mid March. As Gary has now shifted out of Auckland, future clinics will be run by Tony. I hope that we can continue to involve Gary in some of these clinics.
