Appointment of new Chief Executive Officer
The Board of Athletics New Zealand is delighted to announce that it has appointed Scott Newman as the new CEO of Athletics New Zealand.Chairman Stephen Underwood said “Athletics is very pleased to have recruited Scott Newman to lead athletics over the next few years. Scott is a former National Champion athlete and
Representative and he has built a successful career in sport administration. For the last three and a half years he has been a very successful manager of another national sporting organisation. We look forward to Scott’s return to athletics and the professional skills he has honed in recent years.” New Zealand Scott Newman is a former three times New Zealand Triple Jump Champion and medallist in 110m hurdles and high jump. He represented
at the 1990 Oceania Championships. New Zealand A graduate of
with a Bachelor of Business Studies, Scott has completed postgraduate diplomas in business studies (finance) and sport. Massey University He has been a secondary school teacher, worked in regional sports administration, and as a senior manager and then general manager (sports services) of the Millennium Institute of Sport & Health. Scott was the Coach Education Coordinator for Athletics New Zealand from 1997 until 2001.
Scott’s most recent position was as Chief Executive of Water Polo New
Zealand .Scott will take up his new position with Athletics New Zealand on Monday 5 March 2007.
