Craig Barrett selected for world race walking cup
Craig Barrett of
The regular campaigner at world championships, Olympic and Commonwealth Games, will be competing at his sixth world cup event. At the last world cup Barrett took part in, held in France in 1999, he finished 13th in a then personal best time of 3h 48m 14s.
Barrett, who finished fourth in the 50km at the recent Melbourne Commonwealth Games, said that he is looking forward to the next challenge, even though the motivation is a bit low, coming right after
"I will be looking for a big rest after this, but it would be nice to get under four hours," said Barrett.
Barrett's best result at a world athletic championship 50km was seventh in Seville in 1999 and at the 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games he won the silver medal in the 50km walk.
