Hi Paul, I was able to watch this race. Amelia and Peter were together until 19 km and then she pulled away. The notherly wind which competitors had to face for about 8 or 9 km slowed things a bit. James Hurring mad a great effort tov stay with them and at 17 km was only 150m behind. His lack of recent long work told in the end.
Bart looks better every race and he is going faster as his style improves. I'm going to have to break down and start training again to be able to keep up with him.
Peter is also planning a 100 km walk at the Lake Taupo relay weekend in February. Bart will be looking after him as his "Second".
Regards David Lonsdale

Subject: [Kiwiwalkers] Wellington Half-marathon.It looks like there must have been a real battle at the front in sunday's Wellington half-marathon with Amelia De Lorenzo (W44) coming home in 2.08.45 followed closely by Peter Baillie (M59) in 2.09.08. Peter, a friend of this group, will obviously be a serious competitor at the NZ Masters Games in Wanganui early next month. Peter also walked a 3km track event on saturday in a time of 16.32.Other members of this group who performed at Wellington on sunday include Bart Jones 2.30.30 and Bruce Lacey of Wanganui who recorded 2.36.37.
