Britain’s Paula Radcliffe is the Top Performer of the Month for November in the IAAF World Rankings thanks to winning the New York City Marathon. Radcliffe’s time of 2:23:10 earned her 1335 points. It was a close competition for top spot, as Daniel Cheribo of Kenya earned 1328 points by winning the Milan Marathon in 2:08:38. Cheribo’s run was the best male performer of the past month, while his compatriot Moses Mosop turned in 1232 points from his 2nd place finish of 42:25 in Nijmegen and is the best junior male performer of the month. On the women’s side another Kenyan, Emily Chebet was the best junior in the past month. Chebet finished second in Madrid with 32:05 to earn 1119 points. With less track and field meetings on the calendar at this time of the year, Girma Assefa’s 27:55.88 in the 10,000m was enough to earn him the best track performance. The Ethiopian athlete won in Hachioji, Japan to collect 1168 points. In the men’s field events, South African Chris Harmse had the best performance with his 77.80m mark - worth 1159 points - to win the Hammer Throw in Pretoria. Australia's Anna Thompson turned in the best performance in women’s track and field, by winning the 5000m in Melbourne with 15:42:31 (1119 points) and Japan’s Masumi Aya has the best field performance having thrown 64.08m (1014 points) in the Hammer to win in Hamamatsu. In Race Walking, Australia’s Simone Woloviec was the best female performer with a time of 23:11 for the 5km event in Melbourne. Woloviec earned 1062 points for her efforts, while on the men’s side it was New Zealand’s Graeme Jones who had the best performance of the month by winning the 50km Race Walk in Hamilton in a time of 4:43:30 (986 points). In the “Weeks on top” category Mozambique’s Maria Mutola has passed the milestone 200 mark, as she has been ranked number one for 206 weeks now, ever since the IAAF World Rankings have been introduced in January 2001.
