Hi everyone! I don't know how many of you are still out there, but I
figured I'd give this one last try. I'm getting ready to put together
the contributions for the memory book, and this is the last call for
participants. To those of you who have already sent me something to
include, thank you so much! I'd still like to have more people, so if
you can send me something soon and would still like to participate,
please let me know. I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving! Thanks!!!

Gretchen

The last two races of the marathon were the spring race in Atlanta in
2000, and the August Bristol race in 1999.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I watched most of the ESPN marathon today,
and I must say, it was a lot harder to watch the race with Kenny in the
Bellsouth car, than it was to watch him in the Havoline. I hope you all
didn't eat as much as I did today! Oh well, the gym is open early
tomorrow. Bye everyone!

they sold the item, guess not! Lucky you! If I knew I could get what I
paid for it I would sell it oe ebay but I checked on Kyle PEtty stuff and

Hi Everyone!

I am hoping someone might be able to help me. I bidded on a #42 Kenny
Irwin race charm on ebay a few weeks and I was the highest bidder.
Well, I recieved it today and to my dismay it was a MELLOW YELLOW #42
Grand Prix charm. If I am not mistaken wasn't this a Kyle Petty car
YEARS AGO!! I have been watching NASCAR since the 80's and I believe
Mellow Yellow was a sponser from years ago. Just before I go and
blast the person, Kenny NEVER drove a Mellow Yellow car did he? I
guess before I go and tell this person and ebay off for false
advertisement I want someone to back me up, LOL!
It makes me mad someone played off my emotions like this!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!!!

It's totally ok!!! I am sorry if I was rude! I was so excited to get the #42 charm and couldn't believe it was a Kyle Petty one and not Kenny! Was looking forward to wear it to the Homestead race.  I got ripped off on another Kenny item so I just let it affect me way to much!

Lara:

I also saw that charm on Ebay but didn't bid on it because Kenny did not ever drive the Mello Yellow car.  As others have said that was Kyle Petty's car while he drove for Sabco.  My advice to you is to explain the situation to the person before you blast them.  I say this because a few months ago I bought what I thought was a BellSouth car from someone on Ebay and they sent me the BellSouth Mobility car.  When I explained the situation, the man was very nice and explained that he didn't know much about Kenny or the cars he drove and he did not realize that there was even a difference between the 2 cars.  The funny thing about it was that he had a store that sold die-cast.  You would think he of all people would know about die-cast cars.  Unfortunately so many people are out there on Ebay selling Kenny's merchandise for money, but yet they know absolutely nothing about Kenny or his career.

Anyway, that's just my advice......  Hope you can get your money back.

Hi Lara! Yes, maybe it could have been an honest mistake, maybe they
didn't know that Kenny NEVER drove the Mellow Yellow 42. That was Kyle's
car years ago. Funny, I was going to bid on that same charm, and didn't
because I couldn't see the picture very well. I guess I should be glad I
didn't! Tough luck.

Hello, Barb. There are many wheels in motion right now. I am not privy to the exact happenings, but, I do know there are many key people working together more now than prior to Thursday evening. I spend so much time in worry. And we all have spent TOO much time in grief. Let's all hope the powers that be get done what needs to be done. The best thing we all can do is become familiar and educated with what technology is available and how it works and be supportive of the manufactures. I have a lot of faith in the Humpy Bumper, the fantastic and devoted people at Lew Composites and with Humpy Wheeler for his assistance to them and this project. There IS technology...working, life saving technology RIGHT NOW! Of course, we must all realize that this is a dangerous sport and nothing is 100% and never will be, but the sanctioning bodies need to allow the drivers to use what is available if they so choose. We all stand frightened and ! at this point....holding our breath.

Thanks for writing, Marty. We are all so sick . Is there anything we can do? I cannot go through this anymore. I am about ready to give up doing newsletters and watching races. To have to hold your breathe every time theres a wreck , waiting , just waiting to see that window net go down, its too much. ESPECIALLY with everything else going on, you would think we could enjoy a sport. Instead of grieving all the time.

Hello Bob. Marty tyler, staff write, Catchfence.com here...there is geat technology available. I have had a chance to speak fairly regularly with Jason Schiers of Lew Composites who are the makers of the Humpy Bumper. This device is not some fly by night funny sounding device...the research, and it has been EXTENSIVE, shows the capabilities of saving lives. That in connection with improved seat configurations, a head and neck restraint system and a properly installed harness system can and would greatly improve the drivers chances of survival in this type of right frontal impact. Why hasn't it been approved? I can't answer that, however, I will say that the people at Lew's have spent countless hours, manpower and dedication to this project and they do not have the answer to that one either.
I spoke with Jason last night and will speak with him again this morning. I am devastated, as all race fans are. ARCA cars....in many cases ARE Winston Cup cars...purchased from the WC teams. ARCA allows 4 or 5 year old cars to compete in their division while NASCAR only allows 2 year old cars, so, those ARCA cars could greatly benefit from this device as would the CTS truacks, and the Busch cars.
I wish I had answers to ease your mind. I am at a loss, as well.

WHEN IS THE RACING WORLD GOING TO DO SOMETHING? NOW BLAISE ALEXANDER IS NO LONGER WITH US.  SOMEBODY HAS TO DO SOMETHING. MAYBE IF THE FANS WOULDN'T SUPPORT NASCAR AS MUCH, THEY MIGHT DO SOMETHING. MY WIFE & I ARE GOING ON VACATION ON SUNDAY, AND I DON'T EVEN CARE HOW THE RACE GOES. BLAISE'S HOMETOWN IS ABOUT AN HOUR FROM WHERE I LIVE, AND HE WAS EXCITING TO WATCH WHEN HE RACED. AS WAS KENNY IRWIN, TONY, ADAM, DALE AND EVERYONE ELSE THAT WE LOST. THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING THAT CAN BE DONE. WHAT, I DON'T KNOW. BUT IT WOULDN'T BE EASY SLEEPING AT NIGHT IF I WERE IN CHARGE AND DIDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT.  OUR HEROES ARE TAKEN AWAY RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR EYES, AND MIKE HELTON AND THE REST OF THOSE MONEY HUNGRY BASTARDS JUST KEEP GOING AND GOING. WHAT CAN WE DO AS RACE FANS???? ANYBODY HAVE ANY IDEAS. LET ME KNOW. I'M REALLY GETTING TIRED OF THIS.

isn't it unreal how things just seem to go together? I mean, the connections with each other? When we lost our Kenny, the connection with the car number was all I could think about! NOw this. I have about had it. Its so painful. I still miss Kenny so much . Every time I see a driver with curly hair , I tear up.

My love and prayers are with Blaise Alexander's family.  I am so sad about his death.  He was Kenny's teammate last year at Team Sabco.  We saw Blaise at a couple of autograph sessions, and he was such a nice person.  After I heard the news this morning, I put my son's 1/64 Rescue car of Blaise's with our Kenny, Adam and Dale display.  What a sad moment. . .

Blaise had so much potential.  He was a great racer.  He will be missed.

My prayers and thoughts are with Blaise's family and friends. I can't
believe that this has happened again.

Hello Bob. Marty Tyler, Staff Writer, Catchfence.com here...there is geat technology available.

Hi Lisa! The deadline isn't until Thanksgiving, so you have plenty of
time. I'm so happy to have another participant! So far, you are #15. I
was hoping to get quite a few more than that, so spread the word if you
know of anyone else who hasn't already heard of it. Whatever you want to
send is cool, it will all make it into the book. Send it to me at home,
and let me know if you need anything else. Just email me before you send
it, so I know to expect it in the mail. Talk to you soon!

Gretchen

I have more pics, but it takes too long to send them. I do hope that
everyone here, and their families are safe. Take care everyone.
