How many of you guys are building your own engines? I have a question! We're
building an 05 636 to run on methanol for Micro-Sprint racing, We're using Total
Seal rings on pistons, And we're using the thinner head & base gaskets to get
compression up a little more. My Question Is! We don't know how tight we can go
with the Valve to Piston Dome clearence before we have catastrophic results! We
did clay molds between the head and piston, it looks like we're at around 10
thousands right now. Anyone know how tight you can go before you wreck one of
these motors!

Thanks, Roger D.

Roger,
Gads!, 10 thousands now and you want to go more? Id concentrate on gaining rpms for mor HP. But what do I know. You need to talk to the guys at Zblock racing in SanDiego. They blows these little engines up all the time. 253-537-3775 there very heplfull.

Hey Skeet, Thanks for the #, We have to work within a Rulebook! As usual, WE
already have the thinner gaskets in and that's what we came up with, We need to
find out if that's enough. As far as RPM, we're limited, No porting, no
polishing, no bigger valves. We already run these motors up against the stock
rev limiter at the end of the straightaway. We run re-mapped Power commanders to
allow for the extra fuel from the dual fuel injection setup. Last season we
burned pistons in 7 of these motors, till we found out we were to lean on the
mapping at top end. I'll give them a call and see what they have to say.
Thanks Again, Roger

Skeet, I spoke with Dan at Zblock, Very Helpful Guy! We were pretty much on the
same page with all of our numbers in the engine. We are doing something he's
never done and that's use the Total Seal rings. He wants a little feedback on
how they work out for us. Last motor realized 133hp on the dyno, we're hoping to
get a little closer to 140 with this one. Next Tues. it goes to the dyno, we'll
find out then. I'll keep you guys posted, who knows it might blow-up on the
dyno.
Thanks Again, Roger

Roger,
Please let me know as I have a friend with a 636 that would be very interested in this build. I know your going to race at all cost but do you expect to get some what reliability out of it as well?

Skeet,
As far as reliability? I don't know, For street use they should be fine. The
Total Seal rings create more compression because of their two piece top ring.
With more compression we're looking for the H.P. We've used their rings in other
racing engines with great success. This is our first M.C. engine with them in.
After the dyno run, if it stays together, we'll do a compression test to see if
all cylinders are close. I'll let you guys know how things turn out.
