Hi Skeet
I hope you manage to generate some chit-chat. I used to own Ducatis
and am still a member of a web group centering on STs - I stay on
board because it is a constant source of anecdote, amusing stories
and great sage advice. It would be good if this group could become
similar. MY current bike is a ZX6R and I'll post a pic of it, not
that great but it gives an idea.
Cheers and Good luck!
Richie

Realizing this is a small group, but one interested in this type bike,
I thought Id let all you know my bike is for sale. Its my "street
bike" I am still building my track ZX7-6RR but I have a real good
chance to get a 06 10r for a real good price (one I cant refuse) and I
need the money from my 7 to get it. Youve seen all the pics it has
28,000 on it and needs nothing but a new owner. To anyone on this list
I will let it go for $3500 which is well within mid blue book and you
all know the extent of mods on the bike. If you are looking to have
one I can ashure you buying mine is the less expensive way to go. Its
funny though the 10r doent even come close to the handling of the 7r
but thats why I am building a 7r track bike. But for long freeway
trips and open highway jounts Ill will appreciate the low rpms of a
liter bike. So there ya go.

Mike,
I to am building a track zx7r. So far I have the swingarm and shock
installed. Saving up for some zx6r wheels and front end. My street
version weighs in at 387 lb dry and I cant wait to see what track bike
can come in at. I really dont even feel the street bike weight at all
but I think it will help the acceleration with less weight. Welcome to
the group.

Never would have dreamed that expensive of a ride was so poorly thought out. But it makes sense as that is even a problem with Harleys. But the crowd doesnt care. Thats exactly why I built my ZX7R with the 6R stuff on it. I am all about having what I want and NOT just what the factories offer. I wanted a modern 750.. Not a 600 or a 1000. Alredy to many GSXR's out there. So I made a modern Kawi.

The Kwakka has been completely reliable so far!  One of the reasons I suspect for the high activity in the Ducati touring forum is down to just that - reliability issues - as you know they need heaps of TLC, and most Americans seem to have endless finances and time to spend on their iconic machines.  Partly because they clock up high mileages which we never seem to do in our dodgy climate; it's nothing for these bikes to have 60-70k on the clock.

Marc,
You sound a bit more adventureous than me. I like to stay with same brand near year mods as I dont want to reinvent the wheel. Even just puting the rear swing arm from a 06 zx6 to a 03 zx7 required the maraige of a zx7 swing arm bolt to a zx6 bolt and about 2-3 hours in front of a lathe. Its a good fit and adjustable set up when your done but I kinda felt like as long as it was all same manufacture it could be done. Just as it looks like I can use the fuel injection system as the wire colors seem to be same. Take for example the front forks. They literally bolted right on. True there isnt a fork stop, but the actual tubes (the trail is brought back 3/4 of an inch) hit the side of the frame before the bars hit the tank. If you look at the top triple clamp you can see how it perfectly clears the fairing brace. It looks like it was made for it. Only real mod I did was to cut the ignition shroud that surrounds the switch so it was flush. It bolted right in AND the steering lock still works. I like that kind of compatability.

No I didnt revalve a thing. Not only that I was worried when I put the stock rear shock on there that the spring would be to soft, not the case. I am thinking that since the bike has been getting lighter it is making the suspension work as is. The only thing I have to change is the zx6 shock is shorter by an inch, so I have that custom link on there that can raise or lowwer the back end and I need to do that. Look at the side view carefully and you can probably see it.

Yeah but remember when you add HP you have to add "Handles" or you make a good bike bad! Post pics of the wifes bike on the website to under your album when you get a chance. Great that the wife rides. Mine does to, we just sold her (my old) 88 zx6r and got her a 06 cbr600F4i. Guess which one she likes best? :^)

yeah, I'm kinda in the middle of healing from shoulder surgury, and
customizing my wifes bike. It's an 85 Suzuki GS700E. Lowwered, rebuilt
forks, clip-ons, and new windscreen/fairing. I have a problem with 2nd
gear in my zx7 , so I'm either gonna have to drop the motor to fix it,
or if I can find a 9R motor, I'll make the swap. Sound like a good
idea to you?

Eric youd be surprise how inexpensive you can do it for. I bought my
bike for $2900 (yeah it needed help) got the forks, wheels, rear
swingarm and shock off of Ebay. I also have the wire loom and
injectors/airbox to. When said and done I will only have $4500 in the
bike with a new paint job(Ill do myself) I have seen theses STOCK in
good shape sell for that. I am aslo building a track bike. I will be
adding pics of that as I get started. It will be based on the stck
equipment taken from my ZX7 but I am thinking of using a ZX9 engine.

Thanks for the approval. Very slick bike you have there. Hopefully
I can gather the funds to make mine look that nice!
