Greetings to Shihan Holley and Members
I am a 51 year old UK resident who started practicing Shotokan at the age of 39, so a bit of a late starter. I have consistantly trained and actively participate in my teaching since starting my studies. To keep my skills developing I subscribe to the ShotoJournal produced by Bob mcMahon of the AKA and study the techniques of Kissaki-kai under Vince Morris. I also train with Wado , Goju and Aikido instructors on an infrequent basis to help understand the broader aspects of karate and the martial arts as a whole.
Sensei Vince Morris awarded my most recent grade (Nidan). Having decided to 'semi retire' from management consultancy this year, I have been able to spend more time sharing my karate knowledge with others as well as developing my own skills. To this end I now have 5 clubs in operation and my first interclub competition scheduled for october 10th.
My role as European Coordinator within ISOK is a challenging one and I have conducted 4 workshops in the past year, in an effort to pull similar minded karateka into a group of sharinging with a focus on only covering costs and not over commercialising our learning process. This has been achieved with the help of several generous senior instructors who share my philosophy.
I am married with a 17 year old son...
