I have recently added this kata to my adult club syllabus as I feel the applications are more effective than in the Shto version (Tekki). I was taught the kata by a Wado ryu instructor and his interpretation of applications parallels very well with the self defence style karate that I teach at one of my clubs.

The version I was taught starts with the raising of the hands similar to Kanuku dai, the across steps do not use the old axe kick (as I was taught in Tekki) or the knee strike but uses the step across as a strike to the inner thigh. There is also a look left and right befor ethe step across which we interpret as a head butt.

Can anyone point me to a source of this kata, ideally a video clip as I would like to teach the proper performance elements as well as the applications I understand. Having checked the Wado websites I have drawn a blank.

I look forward to some pointers and discussion on this kata.

Regards
