Fender Installation - P/R   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #16477 of 24858 |
I'm REALLY struggling with the installation of my rear P/R fender.
I'm running 34mm Panaracer Nifty Swifty tires, which although have
plenty of room under the fenders, can't fit around the front of the
dropout openings AND slide all the way back in the dropouts without
the fender getting in the way... The fenders don't have enough tire
clearance to allow an inch of forward-backward adjustment. I can
adjust the fenders forward enough to allow the wheel axle to fit
around the front of the dropouts, but then I can't slide the axle all
the way back into the dropouts without the tire hitting against the
back of the fender.

Anyone see something I'm missing? (It's late and I'm going to sleep
on it...)

Thanks,
BB

... That's odd. I have no issues with exiting an inflated Col de la Vie with the fenders installed. I also didn't use any spacers installing the rear fender....

John: I did read your document, thanks. My issue is more related to the front-to-back positioning of the fender. I installed a nylon spacer (1/2 inch) and...
