I have had both and I can tell you. The wheels are
considerably better and make a difference with rolling speed.
The tires matter a lot. The kmx tires are soft and can only
get 40 psi –vs- themaxxis hookworms that go up to 100psi. the wheels of
the x can handle the big pressure
The nylon wheels can not. The tire will come off before you
get 100psi. the rear wheel being bigger can go faster (gear calculation) and
the three gears up front give you a wider range
Of gears for easier hill climbing.
I like them both but I am partial to the X class because
what it offers. Plus, the wheels of the X are almost bomb proof. Out of the 5
total I had for rentals, only one spoke broke. I caught kids slamming each
other like demolition derby and out of two years…one-broken-spoke.

Subject: [KMXKartsowners] X vs. ST
Hi,
Can anyone explain to me what are the differences between the ST and
the X that make the latter better and more expensive?
The X has 24 gears, Maxxis Hookworm tyres and a 24'' (alloy rim) wheel
on the back, while the ST has 7 gears, KMX tyres and a 20'' back
(Nylon Mag) wheel.
This are the obvious differences I found. Besides the gears, what
makes the X better? Its wheels are more fragile than the ST's, right?
And they must be the same weight because both models weight 19.5 Kg...
So why is the X more expensive? Does the bigger back wheel offer some
advantage? Why doesn't the X come with mag wheels too? What's the plus
on the alloy rim?
I haven't yet seen (let alone ridden!) an X up close.
Cheers,
Ana
