I have had the chain pretty close. Do check to make
sure the hanger isn’t bent inwards or the derailleur is straight. (it
should appear to run in line a looking from the top or from the rear)

Shifting problems
Hey Dave,
Thanks for the help. It does look like the chain is a bit too long, so
I'll take a link or two out and see how it goes. Does the chain normally
run rather close to the rear wheel as it exits the tube? That just seemed
a bit odd, but I couldn't figure out what I might have done in assembly that
may be wrong. Maybe Im being over critical ;-) It does work though.
Thanks again.

It sounds as if that may be the case. when the chain is on thesmalles gear on the front and back, it should be taunt just off thecog on the derailleur. in turn, with them on the big gears on bothfront and back, the derailleur should just be extended out but notstraight. If you need to break the chain, get a fast link toreconnect. It is easier to remove for cleaning also.Dave--- In KMXKartsowners@yahoogroups. , tvebob@... wrote:com Im new to the KMX, but not so much to recumbents. I have had myKMX forabout 5 weeks. Im having issues with the rear derailleur. Inoticedthat the bottom chain is running awfully close if not rubbing thereartire. Im using the plastic tube to scoot it over a bit, but isthatright? This is making it very hard for the derailleur to workthehigher gears(smaller cogs). Im not sure if this is aconstructionproblem or something else. I don't think I have ever had thismuchtrouble setting up shifting like this before. The hanger isstrangelyclose to horizontal??? Is this normal, or is the chain a bit long?
