Hey Runners,

Two announcements:

First off, make sure you pick up the March Runners World to see a mention of Jack Quinn's running club and a picture. We are mentioned as a great combination of running and drinking, the newest trend for 2008!

Also a quick reminder for you to sign up for the Jack Quinn's 5K St. Paddy's Day Race that takes place on Saturday March 15th.  This race takes place in downtown Colorado Springs and is the first race of the season. Next Tuesday is the last day to sign up through JQ running club for a chance to win some prizes through the club. Registration papers will be available at our run next week. More details:

5K FOR ST. PATRICK'S DAY RUN: The 10th Annual Grand Prix of Running series officially kicks off on Saturday, March 15, with the "5K For St. Patrick's Day" Run in Downtown Colorado Springs. The Series includes "Take 5 in the Garden of the Gods" (5K & 5 Mile), the "Classic 10K" and the "Great Pumpkin Race." Times from the popular "Sailin Shoes" run are also included as part of the Grand Prix Series results.

A favorite run in Colorado Springs, more than 1,400 runners are expected to participate in this first 5K of the season. We strongly encourage runners to pre-register on-line at www.csgrandprix.com or at Runner's Roost to avoid long registration lines on Race Day!

The course is a flat 5K run that starts and ends at "Acacia Park" (located at Platte and North Tejon.) This loop course gives every runner a chance to stretch their legs and work out the winter cobwebs and prepare for the new season! Chip timing is used and limited to the first 1,500 runners to register! In the Irish tradition of St. Patrick's Day, there will be Irish music and plenty of refreshments at the finish line!

"The Leprechaun Fun Run" for children 12 & under will start at 11 am also at Acacia Park. The run is "As long as a Rainbow" -- about 4 blocks. Parents can run with their wee ones, but no baby joggers, wheels, or pets are allowed in any of the races!

The 25th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade follows the races and steps off at Noon! The parade starts at St. Vrain and Tejon Street and goes south on Tejon to Vermijo. Visit www.csstpats.com  for more Parade information.
