INLINE FIGURE SKATES
TOE-STOP DANGER WARNING!
"If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem!"
1- DoubleLs Entry Level Sets
PROBLEM:
The toe-stops on the DoubleLs Entry Level Sets come loose
automatically without notice regardless of how much you tighten them
with the hex key!
This is not only an unpleasant but a dangerous surprise, susceptible
of causing serious accidents!
SOLUTION:
Remove the toe-stop and apply strong glue before screwing it on again!
The disadvantage of course is that it will no longer be readjustable
nor replaceable!
For any further enquiries & complaints please contact:
Arthur Lee: <doublels@...>
2- PICskates
PROBLEM:
The toe-stops on the PICframes wear out quickly, crack and even
break off in little chunks particularly when used on outdoor rinks
and coarse indoor surfaces such as cement & asphalt!
This is not only exasperating & expensive but also susceptible of
causing serious accidents!
The new PICs recently introduced:
"The new pics have the same good properties as the old except
that they have more rebound which is an advantage for jumps
as well as they are more cohesive which means they hold their
integrity better and are less likely to chunk off.
They are otherwise the same as the old. They cost the same.
The pic will be tight and thus turning it will still require some
oomph.
The pics hardness is slightly less than the old
and is more than made up for in the other properties."
John Petell
I have repeatedly read online.... and heard complaints from my pupils
that the PICs wear out much too soon on outdoor or coarse surfaces!
We need much HARDER ones!.... not SOFTER ones!
Softer/Stickier PICs are DANGEROUS
and useless outdoors particularly for spins!
Samantha Bennis
SOLUTION:
Remove the toe-stops and replace them by small wheels screwed on
tight.
Some recommend soft "aggressive" wheels for use outdoors as a toe-
stop.
For any further enquiries & complaints please contact:
John Petell: <Picskate@...>

I haven't tried it on gravel yet, but I think it would feel like a
bike on gravel and I don't like to ride my bike on gravel. I've gone
on some pretty rough pavement with a TRIKKE and it has done great
though.
Last year I tried an unsuccessful experiment on my Trail Skates.
I went to VAIL and took the Gondola to the top and tried to Skate-ski
down. It was impossible. The terrain was way too rocky and I gave
up, and took the Gondola back to the bottom and went on the flat bike
trails and had a good time and a good workout.
The TRIKKE would be fun in VAIL on flat bike trails I think, but if I
wanted to be really brave and go down a mountain, I'd rent one of
VAIL's mountain scooters with huge inflatable wheels. I don't really
think I'm brave enough for that though!
I think I saw TRIKKEs at Walmart and there are some decent deals on
Ebay.
Happy Moving on Wheels!

I finally got a TRIKKE.
It is sort of like in-line skating and skiing and bike riding and
scooter riding and is kind of fun.
The 8 inch wheels go on any service, but feel very high. However, I
like being able to get off anytime and it has good handbrakes. I
have Trailskates, and the brake is much better on the TRIKKE. I like
being lower to the ground on Trailskates, but I like the TRIKKE
better because I can just get off and on without having to buckle
up all the stuff that comes attached to Trailskates. My off-road
rollerblades are similar to the TRIKKE as far as making me feel high
off the ground. If I had a choice, I'd probably use my TRIKKE over
off-road in-line skates.
I think I like Razor Scooters better, but it's kind of neat how the
TRIKKE can go on rough pavement like a bicycle. One thing I like
about riding Razor Scooters is they fold up small and can be put in
the car. The TRIKKE is still quite bulky even when it folds. I also
can take my dog for a walk while riding a regular scooter, but not
with the Trikke.
Anyway, if you want to add another skate/wheel to your collection,
the TRIKKE is kind of fun. I think I like riding a bike more.
Pic Skating is still my favorite thing to do!
Happy Skating!

I bought a pair of PIC skates, mounted them on Riedell 1025 Super

hoping to be able to transfer what I do on ice unto inline...having a
difficult time...especially with my one foot spins.
I am a reverse direction skater, and my best spin is my RIB.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

The spins are the hardest thing to master on the Pics, IMHO. I found
the traditional spin entry to be darned near impossible, but if I
used a pivot entry, I could spin. Just pivot on the right toe, and
push into a spin. Doesn't work so well on ice, but works great on
Pics.
(I spin reverse, also.)

the traditional spin entry to be darned near impossible, but if I
used a pivot entry, I could spin. Just pivot on the right toe, and
push into a spin. Doesn't work so well on ice, but works great on
Pics.
(I spin reverse, also.)

Hello everyone,
I am new to this group. I see that it's not a very active group, but
maybe someone out there can give me some help.
I bought a pair of PIC skates, mounted them on Riedell 1025 Super
Comp boots, and starting to get used to them. I do ice skate, and was
hoping to be able to transfer what I do on ice unto inline...having a
difficult time...especially with my one foot spins.
I am a reverse direction skater, and my best spin is my RIB.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Brenda
Today, Bosanova Roller Skating Center in Colorado Springs closed.
My family weeps silently inside. We feel we have lost a loved one.
I believe Bosanova has been open for more than 30 (or perhaps 40)
years.
My love of this little roller rink with a real maple floor and the
family that owned it began over 10 years ago.
My first child was still in a stroller and I had just purchased "The
Pic," an attachment Roller Stop (now The Pic Skate Company) had
invented that attached to any in-line skate. I attached "The Pic" to
my original Rollerblades (3 wheels in fact!) and wanted to try them
in a roller rink for safety sake since I was pretty nervous trying
moves I did on ice in rough Colorado parking lots.
I asked Bosanova's owners if I could perhaps push my stroller in the
rink, and the answer was yes!
So off to Bosanova I went and experimented with in-line figure
skating.
Then, to my joy, the Pic Skate was invented and in 1995 or 1996,
around the birth of my 2nd child, I showed up at on weekends wearing
the Pic Skate and trying more figure skating moves.
The rink manager was so intrigued with my Pic Skates that he asked me
to help during learn to skate classes. It was an entirely new thing
for me, an ice skating coach, to teach roller skating, but I learned
so much!
As time went on, I wrote HOW TO JUMP AND SPIN ON IN-LINE SKATES.
Everything in the book and how to do it was "figured out" while I
skated at Bosanova.
My entire family, excluding my son, wears Pic Skates now, and have
skated at Bosanova weekly. My daughters both are just getting spins
and simple jumps down in Pic Skates. We now will have to go to a
roller rink with a wood floor that is in Pueblo, Colorado to continue
experimenting on our skates.
I know my children will always remember their childhood of skating,
being pushed in the stroller, and being a part of the Bosanova Roller
Skating Center.
Yes, we are sad today.

Has anyone purchased a Trikke?
It is sort of like a Scooter that you stand on.
I think I've tried ever kind of in-line skate there is, thanks to the
Pic Skate inspiring me, and wonder how fun the Trikke would be.
On the ads on TV it looks easy and scary at the same time.
Happy Skating!
