I've been helping someone via e mail and phone, and thought I'd include it
here. You will have to reverse everything if you spin counterclockwise on
the left foot. He has had some trouble centering his spins. Centering spins
is the key to a fast and long spin:
Marion
I am assuming you are spinning on the right foot in a clockwise direction
mainly on the inside edge on the ball of the foot.
Mohawk entry:
1. while skating forward
do a forward left inside mohalk (beginning on the left inside edge going
forward, step onto the right foot on the back inside edge.) At this point
you will be traveling backwards on a right inside edge.
2.Continuing to go backwards on the right inside edge, step onto a left back
outside edge. Do this in a clockwise arc around an imaginary circle. You
will be traveling on a left back outside edge in a clockwise direction.
3. Turning to the outside of the imaginary circle you are on (or clockwise),
step forward onto the right outside edge. At this point you need to really
wind into the center of the imaginary circle, which will be the key to
centering your spin.
4. As you step forward onto that right outside edge, you need to do a very
swoopy three turn (in a clockwise direction) and then begin to get that spin
to center directly on top of the middle of the three turn. Get your free leg
(left leg) and arms in front.
Good luck
