Dear Jo Ann,
After not being able to ice skate for 25 years because I just didn't
live close enough to an ice rink, I discovered PIC skates and
purchased two pairs for one of my children ( 4 years old) and for me
about 9 months ago. I also bought your book. I have just read it
again, and then found this group. Your book is great and it has been
very helpful.
My biggest challenge is finding a local gym where I can skate. The
one local rink just closed a few months ago and the nearest other one
is 40 minutes away. Do you know of anyone in charge of maintaining a
gym floor who is available to assure those in doubt that the skates
will not damage the floor? I have already spoken to the YMCA here
with little results. My plan in now to go to the local Park and
Recreation department with a request for some gym time. If that is
not successful, I guess I will start going around to the local
schools which have gyms......
It seems that the concept of roller skating on a gym floor without
causing excesssive wear and tear is a difficult one for people to
understand........
Any referrals you have would be helpful.....
Margaret
