Re: [IJS] Digest Number 312

Hi Group,

I completely agree with you Jenny, roller skating is no match for ice
skating, primarily because of the TV coverage. It also does the sport no
good to be excluded from Olympic competition for many, many years!! Why has
it never been an Olympic sport? Well, there have been entire books written
on this subject, but suffice it to say that the governing body of roller
skating has seen to it that the sport remained in the shadows.

The other thing you might consider, is the fact that roller skating was
invented to SIMULATE ICE SKATING! And the inline skate actually proceeded
the invention and development of the Quad skate!

Now, you'd think if the quad skate, which wanted to be like an inline skate,
which wanted to be like an ice skate... could perform like an ice skate,
you'd have an unbeatable combination. This is why the PIC Skate was
invented. It most definitely fulfills these desires.

On another note, I do think roller skating needs a shot in the arm. It will
be interesting to see what happens when Robin Cousins new show, "Rolling
Thunder"
opens later this year! (www.cousinsentertainment.com) This show looks like
it could be another "Riverdance" phenomenon, and it could push wheeled
skating back to the top!!

-Nick
