I'm so glad that Michelle and Chelsee (and Libby, too!) had a good time in
Tulsa at the Regional Championship. I sure enjoyed spending time with all of
you!!! I am in the process of assessing how many students would like to
attend the Colorado Springs Invitational, so maybe I will be able to come up
in a couple of months!
I am so happy that Chelsee wowed the crowd at Regionals. With her fantastic
performance that had so many people at the competition asking about the PIC
(spectators who were thrilled with the smoothness and the control of her
program) and signing up for lessons right there, I think the time is truly
ripe for the inline artistic skaters. I would really love to see more inline
artistic participation at the regionals events. If you have ever entertained
the idea of competing or performing now is the time to get with your coach
and work for it. Regionals for the North Central Region will be held in
Tulsa, Oklahoma at the Tulsa Skating Center for the next three years and I
would love to see more of our ranks represented at the National Championship.
The competition is friendly and the audience (skaters, parents and spectators
alike) are warm and very receptive. I witnessed congeniality among the
competitors and wonderful practice and warm-up etiquette from the youngest to
the most experienced. Participation in the event brought many old friends
together and forged many new ones. I saw many quad skaters at the beginning
levels and at varied ages. My PIC skaters here in town saw it too and they
are considering their goals and looking forward to next year with renewed
enthusiasm toward a competition they now realize is benign and they have
nothing to fear. Just looking to have some more fun and being with others
skaters that share their passion for the sport.
