Having problems with message search?
Dear IDPA friends,
A word of warning to reloaders. I received a gift of a previously owned Browning 9mm where a couple of lead bullet loads without powder were fired and hammered out of the barrel. Apparently, this weakened the barrel somewhat and after a few hundred rounds, including 150 rounds of Italian ammo, which may be somewhat hot, the barrel bulged, locking up the slide and locking the slide onto the frame.
Maybe those who shoot only low pressure cartridges such as .45 are okay. But had I known this was a possibility, it would have been cheaper to replace the barrel immediately, rather than to have the barrel surgically removed--not to mention the danger.
Anyway, forewarned is forearmed.
