On Saturday, February 2nd, Jue's Taekwon Do hosted a Black Belt
examination and seminar with Master Wheatley, 8th Dan, President of
the Unites States International Taekwon-Do Federation. All students
passed their examinations with six promotions to 1st Dan, one to 2nd
Dan, and one to 3rd Dan. After the examination, Master Wheately
conducted a seminar to a packed Dojang. There were over 60 students
of all ranks in attendance. Master Wheatley made special emphasis on
the importance of the "Do" in Taekwon-Do; that the art is not just
tae kwon, or kicking and punching. Time was also spent on sine wave
and the proper way to build power in Taekwon Do. Master Wheatley
stressed the need to execute the patterns with such power that the
students is nearly exhausted upon completion of the pattern. As
always, this was another memorable seminar put on by Master Wheatley

Maxwell AFB/Gunter AFB has a school but I'm not sure how far that is from where they will be located.  Please have them go direct with me and I'll help them out since AL is right next door to me.

Dear Instructors,

We will be hosting our 6th annual Top of the world TaeKwon-Do
Tournament on Feb. 23rd. If you or any of your students would like
to visit the great white north, we'd love to show you some Alaskan
hospitality. Please let me know if you are interested, and I will
send you a tournament packet.

Also, I have a military family stationed here at Fort Wainwright,
that will be transfered to Fort Rucker in Alabama this summer. Does
anyone know of any ITF clubs or could refer an instructor in that
area?

Thank you very much. Hope everyone had a great New Years!

Yours in TaeKwon-Do,

Jeff Hurben

It was indeed a great event, so much to learn and grow in TKD, I am never disappointed in these seminars.  Master Wheatley and Master Nichols are truely Master Instructors.   We are looking forward to the combined International Instructor Course/Umpiring course to be offered next August in Reno.  I'm already promoting it in the school.  What a great chance for everyone to get both courses at once.   With Lake Tahoe so close it is easy to run up there for an afternoon and do some hiking and picture taking too.

Thanks to Master Wheatley and Master Nicholls for putting on a great seminar. The event
was awesome. It was great seeing our friends from Utah, Mississippi, California, and Ohio. If
you missed this one, make sure you make the next one. I think everyone walked away with
new enthusiasm and knowledge. See you at the next event.

For those who are not aware for the first time in history, the North Korean ITF
demonstration
team is on Tour in America. Put aside any political issues they do a fantastic
demonstration.
I was honored to be invited to go watch their demonstration in my own home town
in
Pleasanton. I got to meet Professor Chang Ung. The interesting thing about all
of the people
involved in bringing this team to the US, is many of them are WTF affiliated
instructors. All of
the instructors and delegates were very courtesy to me as I was introduced to
them as being
a representative of the ITF with President Choi Jung Hwa. Many of them spoke
highly of
President Choi. Many thanks to Mr. George Vitale, long time friend of mine, for
all his efforts
in Taekwon-Do.

If you get a chance go see them. For more information go to

Ms. Van Zile,

As I had said in my previous message....

"Sirs / Madam,

I'm sorry I accidentally erased the shoe vote. I thought I'd make it easier by
changing the
description of the items. But by doing so it reset the votes to "0" You'll have
to go back and
vote."

However, many of our competitors sent their vote to Ms. Jue via email. Not that
your vote
didn't count but before I made the error, that shoe was already behind. Sorry.

Master Jue put up the vote on the Yahoo poll. I kept track of votes
that were sent to me on email on my spreadsheet. The poll showed that
it was even between the two shoes. My spreadsheet showed a 7 to 10
vote for the Star Ma. Star Ma won.

Dearest tae kwon-do family,
I am not so clear upon the "team sweats" we are going to be
receiving. I see that there is a pin striped arm on each side and the
posterior of the jacket seems to be blank in the picture. I was just
curious as to if there are going to be any designs/embroidery as on
the last "team sweats."

Sirs / Madam,

I'm sorry I accidentally erased the shoe vote. I thought I'd make it easier by
changing the
description of the items. But by doing so it reset the votes to "0" You'll
have to go back and
vote.

We will be going to Birmingham from Heathrow Airport on the 29th and hopefully
will be able to join up with some people to make a larger group. So if anyone
is wanting to go then we will join them we have 4 in our group. I put on my
booking form that we would be willing to wait at the airport until a larger
group is formed.

I am not able to view the team uniforms anywhere to vote. What am I
doing wrong? I see the poll and where to vote, but nothing says where
I can see the uniforms.

Dear Fellow TKD Practitioners:

Many of you have seen by now Mr. Foley's request concerning young Eric
Cohen.

For any among us who are not the praying type, or simply want to do
something a little more concrete concerning Mr. Foleuy's request, I
recommend that you make a donation for cancer research.

I'm sure that there are many avenues for this--I went to http://
www.nfcr.org/, and then to the donations page at http://www.nfcr.org//
Default.aspx?tabid=121.

One question I was asked was if I wanted to make it a "joint" donation. I
entered "Charles Foley for Eric Cohen" in the appropriate field.

Taekwon,
Terence Geoghegan
