I rode Sycamore today, it is dry and in *very* good shape (relatively
speaking). I wore shorts, but I was warm anyway. It is late November
in Iowa...

It was very still and quiet for some reason. For 90 minutes the trail
was mine alone except for a couple of Mom's and their sons (on mountain
bikes).

Hope you all got in a good ride today....surely there won't be many
more Sunday's like this one for awhile.

CRANKSGIVING was an amazing success! I want to thank everyone who took time out
of their day to do the event (58 riders total!!). Take each one of the following
items and multiply by 58 and that's what we'll be donating to the Food Bank of
Iowa: box of cereal, canned corn, bar soap, toilet paper, tomato soup, box of
Tuna Helper, laundry detergent, canned fruit, shampoo, and canned tuna.

Keep an eye on http://www.cranksgiving.blogspot.com throughout the week for
photos and video of the event. Also, be sure to grab a copy of Juice this
Wednesday for more photos from the race. We will be delivering food to the Food
Bank of Iowa on Monday morning.

Speacial thanks again to all of the people who came together for this event:
Rasmussen Bike Shop, Mars Cafe, Yankee Doodle Dandy Tattoo, BikeIowa.com, Surly,
Oakley, FlatLandFuel.com, Chicago Wig, Headsweats, AsMaster, Erin Baker
Breakfast Cookies, Honey Stinger, and probably a few more I'm forgetting at the
moment.

HUGE THANKS to the volunteers before and during the race. Heather, Sarah, Dara,
Chris, Sterling, and Troy... couldn't have done it without ya!

Thanks to everyone who was not able to do the event but still took time out to
donate food.

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU!!! Give yourselves a huge pat on the back. You
deserve it.

Final bits of info for anyone planning to do CRANKSGIVING this Saturday.

REGISTRATION WILL OPEN AT 10:30am at MARS CAFE
We have race packets for everyone but the first 50 people in will get some
pretty cool stuff.

PRE-RACE ANNOUNCEMENTS AT 11:45am.

EVENT STARTS AT HIGH NOON (12:00pm).

AWARDS
Trophies to the top finishers in each category.
Cranksgiving t-shirts to the first 15 finishers overall and the top finisher in
each category.

RAFFLE
We will have a raffle for the following prizes following the event:
    1) Surly Steamroller Frameset from Rasmussen Bike Shop
    2) Schwagg bags from Rasmussen Bike Shop
    3) Gift certificates from Yankee Doodle Dandy Tattoo
    4) Schwagg bag from YDDT
    5) Oakley apparel
    6) Flatland Fuel apparel
    7) Ding Pads from Chicago Wig
    8) Butt cream from AsMaster
    9) Schwagg bags from Surly Bicycles
    10) And even more stuff....

You MUST COMPETE AND BE PRESENT to win anything from the raffle.

TRACKSTAND
Following the raffle we will have a trackstand competition (and I have a killer
prize for the winner of that event). A trackstand is where you stand in one
place while on your bicycle, competitors will go for 2 minutes then remove one
hand. One minute later they will remove the other hand. One minute later they
will remove one foot, etc... until we have a winner.

SKID COMPETITION
Following the trackstand competition (and no doubt several frosty beverages
shall be consumed by this point) we will ride over to Mt. Skidmore to see who
can lay down the longest skid. My money is on Bartels.
